所羅門上到那裏、到會棚裏永恆主面前的銅壇旁，獻上成千的燔祭牲在壇上。那一天夜裏、上帝向所羅門顯現，對他說：『我須要給你甚麼、你儘管求。』所羅門對上帝說：『你曾向我父大衛大施堅固的愛，使我接替他作王。永恆主上帝啊，現在求你使你向我父大衛所應許的話得證實吧；因為你立了我作王來管理的這人民就如地上的塵土那麼多。求你現在賜給我智慧學識，我好在這人民面前出入；因為誰能為你這麼龐大數目的人民判斷呢？』上帝對所羅門說：『你心裏既有這個意思：你不祈求財富、資產、尊榮，也不求滅恨你的人的性命，連長壽你也不祈求，只祈求智慧學識，好判斷我的人民、就是我立你作王來管理的；故此智慧學識就給予你；連財富、資產、尊榮、我也必給你；你以前諸王未曾有過這樣，你以後的也必沒有這樣。』

（因為摩西在曠野所造永恆主的帳幕和燔祭壇那時候雖都在基遍的山丘上，

所羅門王獻了牛二萬二千隻、羊十二萬隻為祭：這樣、王和眾民就為上帝的殿行了奉獻禮。

利巴嫩的樹林不夠當柴燒，其走獸不夠做燔祭。

我朝見永恆主，在高高的上帝面前屈身，該帶着甚麼？難道我朝見他、要帶着燔祭，帶着一歲的牛犢麼？難道永恆主還喜悅千千的公羊，或萬萬的油河麼？難道我可為我的過犯獻我的長子？為我的罪獻我身所生的果子麼？

永恆主就第二次向所羅門顯現，如同先前在基遍向他顯現一樣。

猶大王希西家提獻了公牛一千隻，羊七千隻給大眾；首領們也提獻了公牛一千隻、羊一萬隻給大眾；因此許多祭司便潔淨自己為聖、以便供職。

就很害怕，因為基遍是大城，就像一座王城；它又比艾城大，城裏的人又都是勇士。

但是基遍的居民聽見了約書亞向耶利哥和艾城所行的事，

大眾所奉來的燔祭、其數目是：公牛七十隻、公綿羊一百隻、羊羔二百隻：這些祭牲都是做燔祭獻與永恆主的。又有分別為聖之物：公牛六百隻、綿羊三千隻。只是祭司太少，不能把所有燔祭牲的皮都剝盡，故此他們的族弟兄利未人輔助他們、直到工作都作完了，並等到祭司們都潔淨自己為聖了：因為利未人心正意誠地潔淨自己為聖勝過祭司們。並且還有很多燔祭，連同平安祭牲的脂肪、以及跟燔祭同獻的奠祭須要料理。這樣、永恆主殿中的事務就都整理好了。

所羅門宰獻了他所獻與永恆主的平安祭：是牛二萬二千隻，羊十二萬隻：這樣，王和以色列眾人就為永恆主的殿行了奉獻禮。
