所罗门上到耶和华会幕前面的铜祭坛旁边，在坛上献上了一千只燔祭牲。那一夜，神向所罗门显现，对他说：“你无论求什么，我必赐给你。”所罗门对神说：“你曾经向我的父亲大卫大施慈爱，使我接续他作王。耶和华神啊，现在求你实现你向我的父亲大卫应许的话；因为你立了我作王统治这好像地上的尘土那么多的人民。现在求你赐我智慧和知识，使我可以领导这人民；否则，谁能治理你这众多的人民呢？”神对所罗门说：“你既然有这个心意：不求富足、财产、尊荣，也不求你敌人的性命，又不求长寿，只为自己求智慧和知识，好治理我的子民，就是我立你作王统治的人民，因此，智慧和知识必赐给你，我也把富足、财产和尊荣赐给你；在你以前的列王从没有这样，在你以后的也必没有这样。”

摩西在旷野所做耶和华的帐幕和燔祭坛，那时都在基遍的高地，

所罗门王献上了二万二千头牛、十二万只羊为祭。这样，王和全体人民为神的殿举行了奉献礼。

黎巴嫩的树林不够当柴烧，其中的走兽也不够作燔祭。

我朝见耶和华，在至高的神面前叩拜，当献上什么呢？我朝见他的时候，当献上燔祭，当献上一岁的牛犊吗？耶和华喜悦千千的公羊，或是万万的油河吗？为我的过犯，我可以献上我的长子吗？为我的罪恶，献上我亲生的孩子吗？

耶和华就第二次向所罗门显现，像先前在基遍向他显现一样。

犹大王希西家送给会众公牛一千头，羊七千只；众领袖也送给会众公牛一千头，羊一万只；并且有很多祭司自洁。

他们就非常惧怕。因为基遍是大城，好像一座王城；又因为基遍比艾城大，城里所有的人都是勇士。

基遍的居民听见了约书亚向耶利哥和艾城所行的事，

会众带来的燔祭数目如下：公牛七十头、公绵羊一百只、羊羔二百只。这些都是作燔祭献给耶和华的。还有分别为圣之物：公牛六百头、绵羊三千只。只是祭司太少，不能把所有燔祭牲剥皮，所以他们的亲族利未人协助他们，直到剥皮的工作完了，又等到其他祭司自洁完了，因为利未人在自洁的事上比众祭司更加诚心。此外，还有很多燔祭牲和平安祭牲的脂肪，以及和燔祭同献的奠祭很多。这样，耶和华殿里的事奉就重新恢复了。

所罗门向耶和华献平安祭，牛二万二千头，羊十二万只；这样，王和以色列众人为耶和华的殿举行了奉献典礼。
