你們要將所趕出的國民事奉神的各地方，無論是在高山，在小山，在各青翠樹下，都毀壞了；也要拆毀他們的祭壇，打碎他們的柱像，用火焚燒他們的木偶，砍下他們雕刻的神像，並將其名從那地方除滅。你們不可照他們那樣事奉耶和華－你們的神。但耶和華－你們的神從你們各支派中選擇何處為立他名的居所，你們就當往那裏去求問，

卻是所羅門為神造成殿宇。其實，至高者並不住人手所造的，就如先知所言：主說：天是我的座位，地是我的腳凳；你們要為我造何等的殿宇？哪裏是我安息的地方呢？

「你知道我父親大衛因四圍的爭戰，不能為耶和華－他神的名建殿，直等到耶和華使仇敵都服在他腳下。

凡以色列家中的人宰公牛，或是綿羊羔，或是山羊，不拘宰於營內營外，若未曾牽到會幕門口、耶和華的帳幕前獻給耶和華為供物，流血的罪必歸到那人身上。他流了血，要從民中剪除。這是為要使以色列人把他們在田野裏所獻的祭帶到會幕門口、耶和華面前，交給祭司，獻與耶和華為平安祭。祭司要把血灑在會幕門口、耶和華的壇上，把脂油焚燒，獻給耶和華為馨香的祭。

百姓卻仍在邱壇上獻祭，只獻給耶和華－他們的神。

「你去告訴我僕人大衛，說耶和華如此說：『你不可建造殿宇給我居住。自從我領以色列人出埃及，直到今日，我未曾住過殿宇，乃從這會幕到那會幕，從這帳幕到那帳幕。凡我同以色列人所走的地方，我何曾向以色列的一個士師，就是我吩咐牧養我民的說：你為何不給我建造香柏木的殿宇呢？』

我又要毀壞你們的邱壇，砍下你們的日像，把你們的屍首扔在你們偶像的身上；我的心也必厭惡你們。

只是神對我說：『你不可為我的名建造殿宇；因你是戰士，流了人的血。』然而，耶和華－以色列的神在我父的全家揀選我作以色列的王，直到永遠。因他揀選猶大為首領；在猶大支派中揀選我父家，在我父的眾子裏喜悅我，立我作以色列眾人的王。耶和華賜我許多兒子，在我兒子中揀選所羅門坐耶和華的國位，治理以色列人。耶和華對我說：『你兒子所羅門必建造我的殿和院宇；因為我揀選他作我的子，我也必作他的父。
