他告訴她說：『因為我告訴耶斯列人拿伯說：「你將你的葡萄園給我來換取銀子；或是你若樂意，我就將別的葡萄園換給你」；他卻說：「我不能將我的葡萄園給你」』

他回答说：“因我向耶斯列人拿伯说：‘你将你的葡萄园给我，我给你价银，或是你愿意，我就把别的葡萄园换给你’；他却说：‘我不将我的葡萄园给你。’”

他对王后说：“我向耶斯列人拿伯说：‘把你的葡萄园按价钱卖给我，或是你愿意，我可以把别的葡萄园换给你。’他却说：‘我不把我的葡萄园给你。’”

他对王后说：“我向耶斯列人拿伯说：‘把你的葡萄园按价钱卖给我，或是你愿意，我可以把别的葡萄园换给你。’他却说：‘我不把我的葡萄园给你。’”

亚哈回答说：“我要耶斯列人拿伯将他的葡萄园卖给我，如果他愿意，我也可以用别的葡萄园跟他交换，可是他不肯。”

亚哈回答她说：“因为我对耶斯列人拿伯说：‘把你的葡萄园让给我，我付你银子；或者你喜欢的话，我可以用另一个葡萄园与你交换’；可是他说：‘我不能把我的葡萄园让给你。’”

他回答說：「因我向耶斯列人拿伯說：『你將你的葡萄園給我，我給你價銀，或是你願意，我就把別的葡萄園換給你』；他卻說：『我不將我的葡萄園給你。』」

他對王后說：「我向耶斯列人拿伯說：『把你的葡萄園按價錢賣給我，或是你願意，我可以把別的葡萄園換給你。』他卻說：『我不把我的葡萄園給你。』」

亞哈回答說：「我要耶斯列人拿伯將他的葡萄園賣給我，如果他願意，我也可以用別的葡萄園跟他交換，可是他不肯。」

亞哈回答她說：“因為我對耶斯列人拿伯說：‘把你的葡萄園讓給我，我付你銀子；或者你喜歡的話，我可以用另一個葡萄園與你交換’；可是他說：‘我不能把我的葡萄園讓給你。’”

曰、我謂耶斯列人拿伯曰、以爾葡萄園給我以易金、或爾欲之、易以他園、彼曰、不以我之葡萄園給爾、

曰、我告耶斯烈人拿泊云、爾之葡萄園、或予以金、或易以他園、任爾所擇。彼曰不以我園予爾。

亞哈謂之曰、我告耶斯烈人拿伯云、以爾葡萄園鬻我、我予爾以金、爾若欲他葡萄園、我則予爾以易之、彼曰、我不以我葡萄園予爾、

He answered her,“ Because I said to Naboth the Jezreelite,‘ Sell me your vineyard; or if you prefer, I will give you another vineyard in its place.’ But he said,‘ I will not give you my vineyard.’”

He answered her,“ Because I spoke to Naboth from Jezreel. I said,‘ Sell me your vineyard. Or, if you prefer, I’ll give you another vineyard in its place.’ But he said,‘ I won’t sell you my vineyard.’ ”

And he said to her,“ Because I spoke to Naboth the Jezreelite and said to him,‘ Give me your vineyard for money, or else, if it please you, I will give you another vineyard for it.’ And he answered,‘ I will not give you my vineyard.’”

“ I asked Naboth to sell me his vineyard or trade it, but he refused!” Ahab told her.

“ Because I spoke to Naboth the Jezreelite,” he replied.“ I told him,‘ Give me your vineyard for silver, or if you wish, I will give you a vineyard in its place.’ But he said,‘ I won’t give you my vineyard!’”

So he said to her,“ It is because I was speaking to Naboth the Jezreelite and saying to him,‘ Give me your vineyard for money; or else, if it pleases you, I will give you a vineyard in place of it.’ But he said,‘ I will not give you my vineyard.’ ”

He said to her,“ Because I spoke to Naboth the Jezreelite, and said to him,‘ Give me your vineyard for money; or else, if it pleases you, I will give you another vineyard for it.’ And he answered,‘ I will not give you my vineyard.’”

And he said unto her, Because I spake unto Naboth the Jezreelite, and said unto him, Give me thy vineyard for money; or else, if it please thee, I will give thee another vineyard for it: and he answered, I will not give thee my vineyard.

“ Because I spoke to Naboth the Jezreelite,” he replied.“ I told him: Give me your vineyard for silver, or if you wish, I will give you a vineyard in its place. But he said,‘ I won’t give you my vineyard!’”

He answered her,“ While I was talking to Naboth the Jezreelite, I said to him,‘ Sell me your vineyard for silver, or if you prefer, I will give you another vineyard in its place.’ But he said,‘ I will not sell you my vineyard.’”

He said to her,“ Because I spoke to Naboth the Jezreelite, and said to him,‘ Give me your vineyard for money; or else, if it pleases you, I will give you another vineyard for it.’ He answered,‘ I will not give you my vineyard.’”

但那些定意要致富的人就陷落試誘和網羅、跟許多無知而有害的私慾、令人沉沒於敗壞和滅亡中的私慾。因為貪財即是萬惡之根；有人一心要貪財，就受迷離背了信仰，拿許多傷痛刺透了自己。

亞哈告訴拿伯說：『你將你的葡萄園給我，我可以用作菜園，因為那是靠近我的宮室旁邊；我就將比這更好的葡萄園換給你；或是你若看為更好，我就按着價值給你銀子。』拿伯對亞哈說：『我絕對不能將我祖先的產業給你；。』亞哈因為耶斯列人拿伯告訴他的話說：『我不能將我祖先的產業給你』，他就往宮中去，愁悶不樂躺在床上，轉臉向內，也不喫飯。

那一天哈曼出來，心裏歡喜高興；但哈曼一見末底改在御門那裏也不站起來，也不因他而顫動一下，哈曼就怒火填胸惱恨末底改。哈曼勉強忍住，回家去，就打發人去請他幾個朋友和他妻子細利斯來。哈曼將他財富之豐厚、他兒女之眾多、以及王怎樣使他尊大、怎樣高升了他超過眾官長和王的臣僕們、都敘說給他們聽。哈曼又說：『王后以斯帖沒有請別人同王去赴她所豫備的筵席，只請了我；明天也只有我蒙她召請跟王一同去赴宴。但我每逢看見那猶大人末底改坐在御門那裏，總覺得這一切富貴對於我全都無用。』他妻子細利斯和他所有的朋友都對他說：『請叫人立一個五十肘高的示眾木架，明天早晨求王將末底改掛在上頭，你就可以歡歡喜喜地同王去赴筵席了。』這提議哈曼認為滿意，就立了那樣的示眾木架。

心裏寧靜、使肉體有生命；妒憤激動、能使骨頭朽爛。

你們貪慾而無所有，你們就殺人；你們切求而不能得，你們就鬥毆爭戰。你們得不着，因為你們不求。你們求而無所得，因為你們妄求，要浪費在你們的宴樂中。變節的人哪！豈不知與世界為友、就是與上帝為敵麼？所以凡想要做世界朋友的，就把自己立為上帝之仇敵了。『上帝切慕他所安置在我們裏面居住的靈、至於狂熱』你們想這一句經是空說的麼？不，他還賜更大的恩呢；故此經上說：『上帝敵擋狂傲的人，賜恩給謙卑的人』。所以你們要順服上帝，抵擋魔鬼，魔鬼就逃避你們。

末底改仍回到御門那裏；哈曼卻急急忙忙地回家去，帶着悲哀的心情，又蒙着頭。
