你兄弟遭難的日子，你不該瞪着眼看；猶大人被滅的日子，你不該幸災樂禍；他們遭難的日子，你不該說狂傲的話。我子民遭災的日子，你不該進他們的城門；他們遭災的日子，你不該瞪着眼看他們受苦；他們遭災的日子，你不該伸手搶他們的財物。他們遭難的日子，你不該站在岔路口剪除他們逃脫的人，你不該交出他們的倖存者。

大衛回答比錄人臨門的兒子利甲和他哥哥巴拿說：「我指着救我性命脫離一切苦難、永生的耶和華起誓：從前有人告訴我說：『看哪，掃羅死了。』他自以為報好消息，我就拿住他，把他殺在洗革拉，作為他報消息的賞賜。更何況惡人把義人殺在他家的床上，我豈不從你們手中追討他的血，從地上除滅你們嗎？」於是大衛吩咐僕人把他們殺了，砍斷他們的手腳，掛在希伯崙的池旁。然後，他們把伊施‧波設的首級葬在希伯崙押尼珥的墳墓裏。

他們離棄了正路，走入歧途，隨從比珥的兒子巴蘭的路；巴蘭就是那貪愛不義的工錢的人，

他們雖知道上帝判定做這樣事的人是該死的，然而他們不但自己去做，還贊同別人去做。
