As the king passed by, the prophet called out to him,“ Your servant went into the thick of the battle, and someone came to me with a captive and said,‘ Guard this man. If he is missing, it will be your life for his life, or you must pay a talent of silver.’

The king passed by. Then the prophet called out to him. He said,“ I went into the middle of the battle. Someone came to me with a prisoner. He said,‘ Guard this man. Don’t let him get away. If he does, you will pay for his life with yours. Or you can pay 75 pounds of silver.’

And as the king passed, he cried to the king and said,“ Your servant went out into the midst of the battle, and behold, a soldier turned and brought a man to me and said,‘ Guard this man; if by any means he is missing, your life shall be for his life, or else you shall pay a talent of silver.’

As the king passed by, the prophet called out to him,“ Sir, I was in the thick of battle, and suddenly a man brought me a prisoner. He said,‘ Guard this man; if for any reason he gets away, you will either die or pay a fine of seventy five pounds of silver!’

As the king was passing by, he cried out to the king and said,“ Your servant marched out into the middle of the battle. Suddenly, a man turned aside and brought someone to me and said,‘ Guard this man! If he is ever missing, it will be your life in place of his life, or you will weigh out seventy-five pounds of silver.’

And as the king passed by, he cried out to the king and said,“ Your servant went out into the midst of the battle; and behold, a man turned aside and brought a man to me and said,‘ Guard this man; if for any reason he goes missing, then your life shall be forfeited in place of his life, or else you shall pay a talent of silver.’

耶穌用比喻對他們說：「有人開闢了一個葡萄園，在四周築起籬笆，又在園中挖了一個榨酒池，建了一座瞭望臺，然後把葡萄園租給佃戶，就出遠門了。「到葡萄成熟時，園主派一個奴僕去收取他該得的一份。那些佃戶卻捉住那個奴僕，打了他一頓，使他空手而歸。「園主又差另一個奴僕去。這一次，佃戶不但侮辱他，還把他打得頭破血流。園主再派一個奴僕前往，他們卻把他殺掉了。園主後來派去的人不是挨打，就是被殺。最後只剩下園主的愛子，園主就派他去，以為那些佃戶會尊重他的兒子。這班佃戶卻彼此商量說，『這個就是園主的繼承人。來吧！我們殺掉他，產業就歸我們了。』「於是他們抓住他，殺了他，把他拋到葡萄園外。那麼，園主會採取什麼行動呢？他必定會來殺掉這些佃戶，把葡萄園轉給別人。聖經上說，『工匠丟棄的石頭已成了房角石。這是主的作為，在我們看來奇妙莫測。』你們沒有讀過這經文嗎？」他們聽出這比喻是針對他們說的，就想逮捕耶穌，但又害怕百姓，只好先離開了。

耶和華派拿單先知去見大衛。拿單對大衛說：「一座城裡有兩個人，一個富有，一個貧窮。富人擁有許多牛羊，窮人除了自己買來養的一隻母羊羔以外，什麼也沒有。他悉心飼養母羊羔，讓牠跟自己的兒女一起長大，他吃什麼，羊也吃什麼，他喝什麼，羊也喝什麼，還睡在他的懷中，就像他的女兒一樣。一天，富人家中來了客人，他捨不得拿自己的牛羊款待客人，卻宰了窮人的羊給客人吃。」大衛聽後非常憤怒，對拿單說：「我憑永活的耶和華起誓，這人實在該死！他真是沒有半點憐憫之心，他必須償還那窮人四倍！」拿單對大衛說：「那人就是你！以色列的上帝耶和華這樣說，『我膏立你做以色列的王，從掃羅手中救你，

賠他再多財物，他也不會接受；送他再多禮物，他都不肯甘休。

若判他以罰款抵命，不論金額多少，他都得照付。

卻不能救贖自己的生命，也無法向上帝付生命的贖價。

王問她：「你有什麼事？」婦人說：「婢女是個寡婦，丈夫死了。我本來有兩個兒子，有一次他們在田間發生爭執，當時沒有人勸解，其中一個兒子被打死了。現在整個家族都起來反對婢女，說，『把那打死親兄弟的兇手交出來，我們要他以命償命，除掉這個繼承人。』他們要斷了我家的香火，使婢女的丈夫既不能留名，也不能留後。」

約坦聽見這消息，便上到基利心山頂，高喊：「示劍人啊，你們要聽我說，這樣上帝也會聽你們說。從前，樹木要選一個王，它們對橄欖樹說，『你來做我們的王。』橄欖樹說，『我怎能因為貪圖凌駕於眾樹之上而停止出產用來尊崇神與人的橄欖油呢？』樹木對無花果樹說，『你來做我們的王。』無花果樹說，『我怎能因為貪圖淩駕於眾樹之上而停止出產甜美的果子呢？』於是，樹木對葡萄樹說，『你來做我們的王。』葡萄樹說，『我怎能因為貪圖淩駕於眾樹之上而停止出產令神明和世人都快樂的美酒呢？』最後，所有的樹木都對荊棘說，『你來做我們的王。』荊棘回答說，『倘若你們誠心立我為你們的王，就投靠在我的蔭下吧；不然，願火從荊棘中冒出來吞噬黎巴嫩的香柏樹。』「現在你們立亞比米勒為王，光明正大嗎？你們有沒有善待耶路·巴力和他一家？有沒有按他的功績對待他？你們想想，從前我父親為你們出生入死，從米甸人手中拯救你們。現在你們卻背叛我父親家，在一塊磐石上殺死他七十個兒子。因為他婢女的兒子亞比米勒是你們的親戚，你們就立亞比米勒為王。倘若你們光明正大地對待了耶路·巴力一家，願你們給亞比米勒帶來快樂，也願亞比米勒給你們帶來快樂。否則，願亞比米勒燒滅你們示劍人和米羅人，也願你們示劍人和米羅人燒滅亞比米勒。」

他對王說：「耶和華說，『你放走了我決定要毀滅的人，所以你的命要抵他的命，你百姓的命要抵他百姓的命。』」

富人用財富贖命，窮人卻免受驚嚇。

要知道，你們從傳統的、沒有意義的生活中被救贖出來，不是靠金銀等會朽壞的東西，而是靠無瑕無疵的代罪羔羊——基督的寶血。
