便·哈达说：“不管他们是来求和还是求战，都要生擒他们！”

He said,“ If they have come out for peace, take them alive; if they have come out for war, take them alive.”

Ben- Hadad said,“ They might be coming to make peace. If they are, take them alive. Or they might be coming to make war. If they are, take them alive.”

He said,“ If they have come out for peace, take them alive. Or if they have come out for war, take them alive.”

“ Take them alive,” Ben hadad commanded,“ whether they have come for peace or for war.”

So he said,“ If they have marched out in peace, take them alive, and if they have marched out for battle, take them alive.”

Then he said,“ If they have come out for peace, take them alive; or if they have come out for war, take them alive as well.”

So he said,“ If they have come out for peace, take them alive; and if they have come out for war, take them alive.”

And he said, Whether they are come out for peace, take them alive; or whether they are come out for war, take them alive.

So he said,“ If they have marched out in peace, take them alive, and if they have marched out for battle, take them alive.”

He ordered,“ Whether they come in peace or to do battle, take them alive.”

后来，亚玛谢差遣使者对耶户的孙子、约哈斯的儿子、以色列王约阿施说：“来，我们战场上见。”以色列王约阿施派人对犹大王亚玛谢说：“黎巴嫩的蒺藜派使者去对黎巴嫩的香柏树说，‘将你女儿嫁给我儿子吧。’后来黎巴嫩的一只野兽经过，把那蒺藜践踏在脚下。你打败了以东人就趾高气扬，还是待在家里庆祝胜利吧，何必惹祸上身，使你和犹大一同灭亡呢？”但亚玛谢不理会他的劝告。于是，以色列王约阿施起兵攻打犹大王亚玛谢，两王会战于犹大的伯·示麦。犹大人被以色列人打败，兵将都各自逃回家去了。

又说：“你过来，我要把你的肉丢给天上的飞禽和地上的走兽。”

不要再骄横傲慢、口出狂言，因为耶和华鉴察万事，祂会按着人的行为施行审判。勇士的弓被折断，软弱的变为刚强。

骄傲是败亡的前奏，谦虚是尊荣的先锋。

非利士的驻军看见二人走近，就说：“看！希伯来人从洞里爬出来了！”驻军对约拿单和拿兵器的人大喊：“上来，我们要教训教训你们。”约拿单就对拿兵器的人说：“跟着我爬上去，耶和华已经把他们交在以色列人手里了。”
