Now Ben-Hadad king of Aram mustered his entire army. Accompanied by thirty-two kings with their horses and chariots, he went up and besieged Samaria and attacked it.

Ben- Hadad brought his whole army together. He was king of Aram. He went up to Samaria. He took 32 kings and their horses and chariots with him. All of them surrounded Samaria and attacked it.

So Ben-Hadad heeded King Asa, and sent the captains of his armies against the cities of Israel. He attacked Ijon, Dan, Abel Beth Maachah, and all Chinneroth, with all the land of Naphtali.

Now the king of Syria had commanded the thirty-two captains of his chariots, saying,“ Fight with no one small or great, but only with the king of Israel.”

Then the Philistines gathered together to fight with Israel, thirty thousand chariots and six thousand horsemen, and people as the sand which is on the seashore in multitude. And they came up and encamped in Michmash, to the east of Beth Aven.

And Adoni-Bezek said,“ Seventy kings with their thumbs and big toes cut off used to gather scraps under my table; as I have done, so God has repaid me.” Then they brought him to Jerusalem, and there he died.

And he bought the hill of Samaria from Shemer for two talents of silver; then he built on the hill, and called the name of the city which he built, Samaria, after the name of Shemer, owner of the hill.

“ When you go out to battle against your enemies, and see horses and chariots and people more numerous than you, do not be afraid of them; for the Lord your God is with you, who brought you up from the land of Egypt.

And I will bring a sword against you that will execute the vengeance of the covenant; when you are gathered together within your cities I will send pestilence among you; and you shall be delivered into the hand of the enemy.

Then Elisha went to Damascus, and Ben-Hadad king of Syria was sick; and it was told him, saying,“ The man of God has come here.”And the king said to Hazael,“ Take a present in your hand, and go to meet the man of God, and inquire of the Lord by him, saying,‘ shall I recover from this disease?’”So Hazael went to meet him and took a present with him, of every good thing of Damascus, forty camel-loads; and he came and stood before him, and said,“ Your son Ben-Hadad king of Syria has sent me to you, saying,‘ shall I recover from this disease?’”And Elisha said to him,“ Go, say to him,‘ You shall certainly recover.’ However the Lord has shown me that he will really die.”

Then Asa brought silver and gold from the treasuries of the house of the Lord and of the king’s house, and sent to Ben-Hadad king of Syria, who dwelt in Damascus, saying,“ Let there be a treaty between you and me, as there was between my father and your father. See, I have sent you silver and gold; come, break your treaty with Baasha king of Israel, so that he will withdraw from me.”So Ben-Hadad heeded King Asa, and sent the captains of his armies against the cities of Israel. They attacked Ijon, Dan, Abel Maim, and all the storage cities of Naphtali.

Also, he took six hundred choice chariots, and all the chariots of Egypt with captains over every one of them.

And the children of Israel cried out to the Lord; for Jabin had nine hundred chariots of iron, and for twenty years he had harshly oppressed the children of Israel.

And it happened after this that Ben-Hadad king of Syria gathered all his army, and went up and besieged Samaria.And there was a great famine in Samaria; and indeed they besieged it until a donkey’s head was sold for eighty shekels of silver, and one-fourth of a kab of dove droppings for five shekels of silver.Then, as the king of Israel was passing by on the wall, a woman cried out to him, saying,“ Help, my Lord, O king!”And he said,“ If the Lord does not help you, where can I find help for you? From the threshing floor or from the winepress?”Then the king said to her,“ What is troubling you?” And she answered,“ This woman said to me,‘ Give your son, that we may eat him today, and we will eat my son tomorrow.’So we boiled my son, and ate him. And I said to her on the next day,‘ Give your son, that we may eat him’; but she has hidden her son.”

But I will send a fire into the house of Hazael, Which shall devour the palaces of Ben-Hadad.

By your servants you have reproached the Lord, And said,‘ By the multitude of my chariots I have come up to the height of the mountains, To the limits of Lebanon; I will cut down its tall cedars And its choice cypress trees; I will enter its farthest height, To its fruitful forest.

So do this thing: Dismiss the kings, each from his position, and put captains in their places;

For he says,‘ Are not my princes altogether kings?

So they went out at noon. Meanwhile Ben-Hadad and the thirty-two kings helping him were getting drunk at the command post.

You, O king, are a king of kings. For the God of heaven has given you a kingdom, power, strength, and glory;

And it came to pass in the days of Amraphel king of Shinar, Arioch king of Ellasar, Chedorlaomer king of Elam, and Tidal king of nations,that they made war with Bera king of Sodom, Birsha king of Gomorrah, Shinab king of Admah, Shemeber king of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela( that is, Zoar).All these joined together in the Valley of Siddim( that is, the Salt Sea).Twelve years they served Chedorlaomer, and in the thirteenth year they rebelled.In the fourteenth year Chedorlaomer and the kings that were with him came and attacked the Rephaim in Ashteroth Karnaim, the Zuzim in Ham, the Emim in Shaveh Kiriathaim,
