“ And remember, you have with you Shimei son of Gera, the Benjamite from Bahurim, who called down bitter curses on me the day I went to Mahanaim. When he came down to meet me at the Jordan, I swore to him by the Lord:‘ I will not put you to death by the sword.’

“ Don’t forget that Shimei, the son of Gera, is still around. He’s from Bahurim in the territory of Benjamin. Shimei cursed me bitterly. He did it on the day I went to Mahanaim. Later, he came down to welcome me at the Jordan River. At that time I made a promise in the name of the Lord. I promised Shimei,‘ I won’t put you to death with my sword.’

And there is also with you Shimei the son of Gera, the Benjaminite from Bahurim, who cursed me with a grievous curse on the day when I went to Mahanaim. But when he came down to meet me at the Jordan, I swore to him by the Lord, saying,‘ I will not put you to death with the sword.’

“ And remember Shimei son of Gera, the man from Bahurim in Benjamin. He cursed me with a terrible curse as I was fleeing to Mahanaim. When he came down to meet me at the Jordan River, I swore by the Lord that I would not kill him.

“ Keep an eye on Shimei son of Gera, the Benjaminite from Bahurim who is with you. He uttered malicious curses against me the day I went to Mahanaim. But he came down to meet me at the Jordan River, and I swore to him by the LORD,‘ I will never kill you with the sword.’

And behold, you have with you Shimei the son of Gera the Benjaminite, of Bahurim; now it was he who cursed me with a painful curse on the day I went to Mahanaim. But when he came down to meet me at the Jordan, I swore to him by the Lord, saying,‘ I will not put you to death with the sword.’

“ And see, you have with you Shimei the son of Gera, a Benjamite from Bahurim, who cursed me with a malicious curse in the day when I went to Mahanaim. But he came down to meet me at the Jordan, and I swore to him by the Lord, saying,‘ I will not put you to death with the sword.’

And, behold, there is with thee Shimei the son of Gera, the Benjamite, of Bahurim, who cursed me with a grievous curse in the day when I went to Mahanaim; but he came down to meet me at the Jordan, and I sware to him by Jehovah, saying, I will not put thee to death with the sword.

“ Keep an eye on Shimei son of Gera, the Benjaminite from Bahurim who is with you. He uttered malicious curses against me the day I went to Mahanaim. But he came down to meet me at the Jordan River, and I swore to him by the Lord:‘ I will never kill you with the sword.’

And, behold,[ thou hast] with thee Shimei the son of Gera, a Benjamite of Bahurim, which cursed me with a grievous curse in the day when I went to Mahanaim: but he came down to meet me at Jordan, and I sware to him by the LORD, saying, I will not put thee to death with the sword.

“ Note well, you still have to contend with Shimei son of Gera, the Benjaminite from Bahurim, who tried to call down upon me a horrible judgment when I went to Mahanaim. He came down and met me at the Jordan, and I solemnly promised him by the LORD,‘ I will not strike you down with the sword.’

“ Behold, there is with you Shimei the son of Gera, the Benjamite, of Bahurim, who cursed me with a grievous curse in the day when I went to Mahanaim; but he came down to meet me at the Jordan, and I swore to him by Yahweh, saying,‘ I will not put you to death with the sword.’

大卫王来到巴户琳的时候，忽然有一人从那里出来，他是属扫罗家族的，名叫示每，是基拉的儿子。他一边出来，一边咒骂；又拿石头投掷大卫和大卫王所有的臣仆，那时众人和众勇士都在王的左右。示每咒骂的时候，这样说：“你这流人血的人啊，滚开！你这无赖啊，滚开！你流了扫罗全家的血，接替扫罗作王，耶和华已经把这罪报应在你身上；耶和华已经把这国交在你儿子押沙龙的手里。看哪！你现在自取其祸了，因为你是个流人血的人。”

巴户琳的便雅悯人，基拉的儿子示每，急忙与犹大人一同下去迎接大卫王。与示每同来的有一千便雅悯人，还有扫罗家的仆人洗巴，和他的十五个儿子，以及二十个仆人。他们都冲过约旦河去迎接王。有人渡过渡口，把王的家眷接过去，并且照着王的心意去作。大卫过约旦河的时候，基拉的儿子示每俯伏在王面前，对王说：“我主我王从耶路撒冷出来的那一天，你仆人所犯的错，现在求我主不要归罪于我，求你不要记念，求王也不要放在心上。因为你的仆人知道自己犯了罪，所以你看，在约瑟全家之中，今天我是第一个下来迎接我主我王的。”洗鲁雅的儿子亚比筛回答说：“示每咒骂了耶和华的受膏者，岂不该因此把他处死吗？”大卫说：“洗鲁雅的儿子们啊，我与你们有什么关系呢？今天你们竟与我作对！今天在以色列中，岂可有人被处死呢？难道我不知道今天我作以色列的王吗？”于是王对示每说：“你一定不会被处死！”王又向他起誓。

如果你凭真理、公正、公义，指着永活的耶和华起誓；列国就必因耶和华蒙福，也必以他为荣。”

王派人去把示每召来，对他说：“你要为自己在耶路撒冷建造一座房屋，住在那里，不可从那里出来到任何别的地方去。你必须知道，你哪一天出来，越过汲沦溪，你哪一天就要死。你流人血的罪必归到你自己的头上。”示每对王说：“这话很好，我主我王怎么说，你仆人就照着行。”于是示每在耶路撒冷住了很久。三年以后，示每的两个仆人逃到迦特王玛迦的儿子亚吉那里。有人告诉示每说：“你的仆人在迦特。”于是示每起来，预备好自己的骡子，就往迦特亚吉王那里去寻找他的仆人。示每去了，又把他的仆人从迦特带回来。有人告诉所罗门示每离开耶路撒冷往迦特去，又回来了。王就派人把示每召来，对他说：“我不是叫你指着耶和华起誓，并且警告你：‘你必须知道，你哪一天出去到任何别的地方，你哪一天就要死’吗？你也对我说过：‘这话很好，我必听从。’现在你为什么不遵守你向耶和华所起的誓，和我吩咐你的命令呢？”王又对示每说：“你自己知道你心里的一切恶事，就是你向我父亲大卫所行的；现在耶和华要把你的罪归到你的头上。所罗门王却要蒙福，大卫的王位必在耶和华眼前得坚立，直到永远。”于是王命令耶何耶大的儿子比拿雅，比拿雅就出去击杀示每，示每就死了。这样，所罗门就巩固了他的国。
