彼刃擊二人、較己尤義尤善者、即以色列軍長、尼珥子押尼珥、猶大軍長、益帖子亞瑪撒、我父大衛不之知也、耶和華必使約押所流之血、歸於其首、

彼以刃殺二人、皆較彼義且善、即以色列軍長尼珥子押尼珥、及猶大軍長益帖子亞瑪撒、我父大衛未之知也、今主以此罪歸約押首、殺二人之罪、必永歸約押首、及其後裔之首、惟大衛與其裔其家其國、必由主而得平康、至於永遠、

The Lord will repay him for the blood he shed, because without my father David knowing it he attacked two men and killed them with the sword. Both of them— Abner son of Ner, commander of Israel’s army, and Amasa son of Jether, commander of Judah’s army— were better men and more upright than he.

The Lord will pay him back for the blood he spilled. Joab attacked two men. He killed them with his sword. And my father David didn’t even know anything about it. Joab killed Abner, the son of Ner. Abner was the commander of Israel’s army. Joab also killed Amasa, the son of Jether. Amasa was the commander of Judah’s army. Abner and Amasa were better men than Joab is. They were more honest than he is.

The Lord will bring back his bloody deeds on his own head, because, without the knowledge of my father David, he attacked and killed with the sword two men more righteous and better than himself, Abner the son of Ner, commander of the army of Israel, and Amasa the son of Jether, commander of the army of Judah.

The Lord will repay him for the murders of two men who were more righteous and better than he. For my father knew nothing about the deaths of Abner son of Ner, commander of the army of Israel, and of Amasa son of Jether, commander of the army of Judah.

The LORD will bring back his own blood on his head because he struck down two men more righteous and better than he, without my father David’s knowledge. With his sword, Joab murdered Abner son of Ner, commander of Israel’s army, and Amasa son of Jether, commander of Judah’s army.

May the LORD punish him for the blood he shed; behind my father David’s back he struck down and murdered with the sword two men who were more innocent and morally upright than he– Abner son of Ner, commander of Israel’s army, and Amasa son of Jether, commander of Judah’s army.

這是要使耶路巴力七十個兒子受害所流的血，歸於他們的兄弟亞比米勒，因他殺害他們，也歸於那些出手幫助他殺害兄弟的示劍居民。

反而行以色列諸王的道，使猶大和耶路撒冷居民行淫，像亞哈家行淫一樣，又殺了你父家比你好的那些兄弟。

示劍人的一切惡事，神也都報應在他們頭上；耶路巴力的兒子約坦的詛咒都臨到他們身上了。

他的毒害必回到自己頭上，他的殘暴必落到自己的腦袋上。

你也知道洗魯雅的兒子約押向我所做的事，他對付以色列的兩個元帥，尼珥的兒子押尼珥和益帖的兒子亞瑪撒，殺了他們。他在太平之時，如同戰爭一般，流這二人的血，把這戰爭的血染了他腰間束的帶和腳上穿的鞋。

更何況惡人把義人殺在他家的床上，我豈不從你們手中追討他的血，從地上除滅你們嗎？」

約押對亞瑪撒說：「我的弟兄，你平安嗎？」他就用右手抓住亞瑪撒的鬍子，要親吻他。亞瑪撒沒有防備約押手裏拿着的刀；約押用刀刺入他的肚腹，他的腸子流在地上，約押沒有再刺，他就死了。約押和他弟弟亞比篩往前追趕比基利的兒子示巴。

現在你必從這地受詛咒，這地開了口，從你手裏接受你弟弟的血。

王又對示每說：「你向我父親大衛所做的一切惡事，你自己心裏都知道，耶和華必使你的罪惡歸到你自己的頭上。

那日，以色列眾百姓才知道殺尼珥的兒子押尼珥並非出於王意。

撒母耳對他說：「今日耶和華使以色列國與你斷絕，把這國賜給另一個比你更好的人。

約押從大衛那裏出來，派些使者去追押尼珥，從西拉井那裏帶他回來，大衛卻不知道。押尼珥回到希伯崙，約押領他到城門中間，要與他私下交談，就在那裏刺穿了他的肚腹。他就死了，因為他流了約押兄弟亞撒黑的血。

王若以為好，請降諭旨，寫在波斯和瑪代人的條例中，永不更改，不准瓦實提再到亞哈隨魯王面前，把她王后的位分賜給比她更好的妃子。

押沙龍立亞瑪撒作元帥，取代約押。亞瑪撒是以實瑪利人以特拉的兒子。以特拉曾與拿轄的女兒亞比該親近；這亞比該與約押的母親洗魯雅是姊妹。
