Therefore, you will not get up from your sickbed; you will certainly die.”’”The king asked them,“ What sort of man came up to meet you and spoke those words to you?”They replied,“ A hairy man with a leather belt around his waist.” He said,“ It’s Elijah the Tishbite.”

When the servant had gone, David got up from the south side of the stone Ezel, fell facedown to the ground, and paid homage three times. Then he and Jonathan kissed each other and wept with each other, though David wept more.

“ What can we say to my lord?” Judah replied.“ How can we plead? How can we justify ourselves? God has exposed your servants’ iniquity. We are now my lord’s slaves— both we and the one in whose possession the cup was found.”

Now please let your servant remain here as my lord’s slave, in place of the boy. Let him go back with his brothers.

The sons of your oppressors will come and bow down to you; all who reviled you will fall facedown at your feet. They will call you the City of the LORD, Zion of the Holy One of Israel.

What then did you go out to see? A man dressed in soft clothes? See, those who wear soft clothes are in royal palaces.
