Then he lay down and slept under the broom tree. But as he was sleeping, an angel touched him and told him,“ Get up and eat!”He looked around and there beside his head was some bread baked on hot stones and a jar of water! So he ate and drank and lay down again.Then the angel of the Lord came again and touched him and said,“ Get up and eat some more, or the journey ahead will be too much for you.”So he got up and ate and drank, and the food gave him enough strength to travel forty days and forty nights to Mount Sinai, the mountain of God.

He gives food to the wild animals and feeds the young ravens when they cry.

But Jesus told him,“ No! The Scriptures say,‘ People do not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”

“ Who kept the sea inside its boundaries as it burst from the womb,and as I clothed it with clouds and wrapped it in thick darkness?For I locked it behind barred gates, limiting its shores.I said,‘ This far and no farther will you come. Here your proud waves must stop!’“ Have you ever commanded the morning to appear and caused the dawn to rise in the east?Have you made daylight spread to the ends of the earth, to bring an end to the night’s wickedness?

“ You and Aaron must take the staff and assemble the entire community. As the people watch, speak to the rock over there, and it will pour out its water. You will provide enough water from the rock to satisfy the whole community and their livestock.”

Who provides food for the ravens when their young cry out to God and wander about in hunger?

Let the whole world fear the Lord, and let everyone stand in awe of him.For when he spoke, the world began! It appeared at his command.

Then the devil went away, and angels came and took care of Jesus.

But if he chooses to remain quiet, who can criticize him? When he hides his face, no one can find him, whether an individual or a nation.

Even if they hide at the very top of Mount Carmel, I will search them out and capture them. Even if they hide at the bottom of the ocean, I will send the sea serpent after them to bite them.Even if their enemies drive them into exile, I will command the sword to kill them there. I am determined to bring disaster upon them and not to help them.”
