For David had done what was right in the eyes of the Lord and had not failed to keep any of the Lord’s commands all the days of his life— except in the case of Uriah the Hittite.

David had done what was right in the sight of the Lord. He had kept all the Lord’ s commands. He had obeyed them all the days of his life. But he hadn’t obeyed the Lord in the case of Uriah, the Hittite.

他們兩個人在神面前都是義人，遵行主的一切誡命和公義規定，無可指責。

但你為什麼藐視耶和華的話，做他眼中看為惡的事呢？你用刀劍擊殺了赫提人烏利亞，又娶他的妻子作你的妻子，你藉著亞捫人的刀劍殺了他！現在，刀劍必永不離開你的家，因為你藐視了我，娶了赫提人烏利亞的妻子作你的妻子。』

大衛派人去打聽那個女人。有人說：「這不是伊連的女兒、赫提人烏利亞的妻子芭示巴嗎？」大衛派人把她帶來。她進到大衛那裡，大衛就與她同睡——那時她正在從月事的汙穢中得潔淨——之後她回家去了。

就是說，大衛雖然在自己的世代，遵行了神的計劃之後就睡了，歸到他祖先那裡，並且經歷了腐朽，

神哪，求你照著你的慈愛恩待我，照著你豐盛的憐憫抹掉我的過犯！

這樣，我注目你一切誡命時，就不致蒙羞；

後來神廢除了掃羅，興起大衛做他們的王，並且為他見證說：『我找到了耶西的兒子大衛，一個合乎我心意的人，他將遵行我的一切旨意。』
