Then he rode after the man of God and found him sitting under a great tree. The old prophet asked him,“ Are you the man of God who came from Judah?”“ Yes, I am,” he replied.

I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything. I have learned the secret of living in every situation, whether it is with a full stomach or empty, with plenty or little.For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.

Then he went on alone into the wilderness, traveling all day. He sat down under a solitary broom tree and prayed that he might die.“ I have had enough, Lord,” he said.“ Take my life, for I am no better than my ancestors who have already died.”

Jacob’s well was there; and Jesus, tired from the long walk, sat wearily beside the well about noontime.

Then Jesus explained:“ My nourishment comes from doing the will of God, who sent me, and from finishing his work.

I have worked hard and long, enduring many sleepless nights. I have been hungry and thirsty and have often gone without food. I have shivered in the cold, without enough clothing to keep me warm.

Even now we go hungry and thirsty, and we don’t have enough clothes to keep warm. We are often beaten and have no home.We work wearily with our own hands to earn our living. We bless those who curse us. We are patient with those who abuse us.
