And they spoke to him, saying,“ If you will be a servant to these people today, and serve them, and answer them, and speak good words to them, then they will be your servants forever.”

僉曰、今日爾若願為斯民之僕、而服事之、答以善言、彼必永為爾僕、

曰、為今計、惟順輿情、以善言慰之、彼必永為爾僕。

老者曰、如爾今日在民前自卑如僕、從其所求、以善言答之、則彼必永為爾僕、

They replied,“ If today you will be a servant to these people and serve them and give them a favorable answer, they will always be your servants.”

They replied,“ Serve them today. Give them what they are asking for. Then they’ll always serve you.”

And they said to him,“ If you will be a servant to this people today and serve them, and speak good words to them when you answer them, then they will be your servants forever.”

The older counselors replied,“ If you are willing to be a servant to these people today and give them a favorable answer, they will always be your loyal subjects.”

They replied,“ Today if you will be a servant to this people and serve them, and if you respond to them by speaking kind words to them, they will be your servants forever.”

Then they spoke to him, saying,“ If you will be a servant to this people today, and will serve them and grant them their request, and speak pleasant words to them, then they will be your servants always.”

And they spake unto him, saying, If thou wilt be a servant unto this people this day, and wilt serve them, and answer them, and speak good words to them, then they will be thy servants for ever.

They replied,“ Today if you will be a servant to these people and serve them, and if you respond to them by speaking kind words to them, they will be your servants forever.”

And they spake unto him, saying, If thou wilt be a servant unto this people this day, and wilt serve them, and answer them, and speak good words to them, then they will be thy servants for ever.

They said to him,“ Today if you show a willingness to help these people and grant their request, they will be your servants from this time forward.”

They replied,“ If you will be a servant to this people today, and will serve them, and answer them with good words, then they will be your servants forever.”

A soft answer turns away wrath, But a harsh word stirs up anger.

Then the king answered the people roughly, and rejected the advice which the elders had given him;

If the spirit of the ruler rises against you, Do not leave your post; For conciliation pacifies great offenses.

Yet it shall not be so among you; but whoever desires to become great among you shall be your servant.And whoever of you desires to be first shall be slave of all.

Then Absalom would say to him,“ Look, your case is good and right; but there is no deputy of the king to hear you.”Moreover Absalom would say,“ Oh, that I were made judge in the land, and everyone who has any suit or cause would come to me; then I would give him justice.”And so it was, whenever anyone came near to bow down to him, that he would put out his hand and take him and kiss him.In this manner Absalom acted toward all Israel who came to the king for judgment. So Absalom stole the hearts of the men of Israel.

but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men.And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name,that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth,and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

And the Lord answered the angel who talked to me, with good and comforting words.

Then King Rehoboam consulted the elders who stood before his father Solomon while he still lived, saying,“ How do you advise me to answer these people?”And they spoke to him, saying,“ If you are kind to these people, and please them, and speak good words to them, they will be your servants forever.”
