「管轄你們的王必這樣行：他必派你們的兒子為他趕車、跟馬，奔走在車前；又派他們作千夫長、五十夫長，為他耕種田地，收割莊稼，打造軍器和車上的器械；必取你們的女兒為他製造香膏，做飯烤餅；也必取你們最好的田地、葡萄園、橄欖園賜給他的臣僕。你們的糧食和葡萄園所出的，他必取十分之一給他的太監和臣僕；又必取你們的僕人婢女，健壯的少年人和你們的驢，供他的差役。你們的羊羣他必取十分之一，你們也必作他的僕人。那時你們必因所選的王哀求耶和華，耶和華卻不應允你們。」

所羅門在以色列全地立了十二個官吏，使他們供給王和王家的食物，每年各人供給一月。

所羅門王挑取服苦的人，是為建造耶和華的殿、自己的宮、米羅、耶路撒冷的城牆、夏瑣、米吉多，並基色。

「你父親使我們負重軛做苦工，現在求你使我們做的苦工負的重軛輕鬆些，我們就事奉你。」羅波安對他們說：「第三日再來見我吧！」民就去了。

我心裏柔和謙卑，你們當負我的軛，學我的樣式；這樣，你們心裏就必得享安息。因為我的軛是容易的，我的擔子是輕省的。」

他們把難擔的重擔捆起來，擱在人的肩上，但自己一個指頭也不肯動。

猶大人和以色列人如同海邊的沙那樣多，都吃喝快樂。所羅門統管諸國，從大河到非利士地，直到埃及的邊界。所羅門在世的日子，這些國都進貢服事他。所羅門每日所用的食物：細麵三十歌珥，粗麵六十歌珥，肥牛十隻，草場的牛二十隻，羊一百隻，還有鹿、羚羊、麅子，並肥禽。所羅門管理大河西邊的諸王，以及從提弗薩直到迦薩的全地，四境盡都平安。所羅門在世的日子，從但到別是巴的猶大人和以色列人都在自己的葡萄樹下和無花果樹下安然居住。

惟有以色列人，所羅門不使他們作奴僕，乃是作他的戰士、臣僕、統領、軍長、車兵長、馬兵長。所羅門有五百五十督工的，監管工人。
