After seeking advice, the king made two golden calves. He said to the people,“ It is too much for you to go up to Jerusalem. Here are your gods, Israel, who brought you up out of Egypt.”

So King Jeroboam asked for advice. Then he made two golden statues that looked like calves. He said to the people,“ It’s too hard for you to go up to Jerusalem. Israel, here are your gods who brought you up out of Egypt.”

So the king took counsel and made two calves of gold. And he said to the people,“ You have gone up to Jerusalem long enough. Behold your gods, O Israel, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt.”

So on the advice of his counselors, the king made two gold calves. He said to the people,“ It is too much trouble for you to worship in Jerusalem. Look, Israel, these are the gods who brought you out of Egypt!”

So the king sought advice. Then he made two golden calves, and he said to the people,“ Going to Jerusalem is too difficult for you. Israel, here are your gods who brought you up from the land of Egypt.”

So the king consulted, and he made two golden calves; and he said to the people,“ It is too much for you to go up to Jerusalem; behold your gods, Israel, that brought you up from the land of Egypt.”

他们拥立君王，未经我的同意；选立首领，没有让我知道。他们用金银为自己制造神像，自取灭亡。我鄙弃撒玛利亚人所拜的牛犊，我要向他们发怒，他们到什么时候才能洁身自守呢？这牛犊是以色列的工匠造的，并不是神，必被砸得粉碎。他们种的是风，收的是暴风。他们的庄稼长不出穗子，结不出籽粒，就是有收成，也要被外族人吃掉。

耶罗波安却为丘坛、公山羊像和他造的牛犊像设立他自己的祭司。

那时，耶和华吩咐我把律例和典章传授给你们，好让你们在将要占领的土地上遵守。“你们要格外小心，耶和华在何烈山的火焰中对你们说话时，你们没有看见任何形象，所以不可堕落，去为自己制造任何形状的神像——男人、女人、飞禽走兽、爬虫或鱼类。

撒玛利亚的居民要因伯·亚文的牛犊偶像而恐惧颤抖；祭拜它的人要哀伤，供奉它的祭司要痛哭，因为它的荣耀将离开他们。它要被带到亚述去，作为贡物献给强大的亚述王。以法莲因此而受人嘲笑，以色列因自己的偶像而蒙羞。

他们对先见说，‘你们不要再看异象了。’又对先知说，‘不要再教导我们是非对错。给我们说些好听的话，讲些虚幻的事吧。

罗波安却没有采纳老臣的意见。他又去征询那些和他一起长大的青年臣僚的意见，说：“民众求我减轻我父亲加给他们的重担。你们认为我该怎样回复他们？”

来吧！我们要设法阻止他们人口增长，否则一遇到战争，他们便会加入我们敌人的阵营来攻打我们，然后一走了之。”

耶和华说：“我悖逆的儿女有祸了！他们不遵行我的旨意，按自己的计划行事；未经我同意，擅自与人结盟，不断犯罪。

他们应许那些人可以得自由，而自己却做罪恶的奴隶，因为人被什么制服，就被什么奴役。
