As Solomon grew old, his wives turned his heart after other gods, and his heart was not fully devoted to the Lord his God, as the heart of David his father had been.

As Solomon grew older, his wives turned his heart toward other gods. He didn’t follow the Lord his God with all his heart. So he wasn’t like his father David.

謂之曰、昔以色列王所羅門、亦因斯事犯罪、在列國中、無王可比、為其天主所愛、天主立之為以色列王、然異邦之女、誘之獲罪、豈可任爾行此大不法之事、娶異邦之女、干犯我天主乎、

所羅門建二室、即主之殿與王宮、凡歷二十年、始竣其工、

我子所羅門歟、爾當知爾父之天主、誠心樂意以事之、蓋主鑒察人心、人心原文作諸心知悉一切意念、爾若求之、必惠臨爾、若遺之、必永棄爾、

主祐約沙法、因行其祖大衛昔所行之道、不尋求巴力、

所有邱壇、雖尚未廢、然亞撒畢生誠心向主、

亞瑪謝行善於主前、第心不專誠、

恐其誘惑爾子離棄主、主原文作我從事他神、如是主必向爾震怒、滅爾甚速、

行善於主前、效其祖大衛所為、不偏於左、不偏於右、

亞比安行其父昔所行之諸惡、其心不似祖大衛之心誠實向主其天主、

又求主賜我子所羅門以誠心、守主之誡命、法度、律例、成就諸事、以我所備之材、建造斯殿、

如爾聽從我命、遵行我道、為善於我前、謹守我律例誡命、效我僕大衛所為、則我必祐祐原文作偕爾、為爾建立恆久之家、如我為大衛建立然、將以色列人賜爾、

求主垂念我在主前行動誠實、一心不貳、行善於主前、希西家哭甚哀、

所羅門子羅波安為猶大王、即位時、年四十有一歲、都耶路撒冷、即主於以色列諸支派中所選歸其名之邑、在位十七年、其母名拿瑪、亞捫女也、

以色列人出伊及後、四百八十年、乃所羅門為以色列王第四年、細弗月即二月、始建主殿、

不可多有妃嬪、恐其心偏邪、亦不可廣積金銀、

爾建此殿、如爾遵行我之律例法度、遵行謹守我一切誡命、則昔所許爾父大衛之言、我必踐之、我必居於以色列人中、不擯棄我民以色列、○

希西家在猶大全地、如是以行、在主其天主前為善、正直真誠、凡其所行、或理人供役事於天主之殿、或遵律法、守誡命、以尋求其天主、皆一心行之、無不亨通、

所羅門在耶路撒冷為以色列全族之王、歷四十年、

論此諸族、主曾諭以色列人曰、爾勿與彼往來相通、原文作勿入其中亦不容彼入爾中恐其誘惑爾心、信從他神、然所羅門戀愛此異族之女、
