Then the Lord raised up against Solomon an adversary, Hadad the Edomite, from the royal line of Edom.

Then the Lord brought an enemy against Solomon. The enemy’s name was Hadad. He was from Edom. In fact, he belonged to the royal family of Edom.

And the Lord raised up an adversary against Solomon, Hadad the Edomite. He was of the royal house in Edom.

Then the Lord raised up Hadad the Edomite, a member of Edom’s royal family, to be Solomon’s adversary.

So the LORD raised up Hadad the Edomite as an enemy against Solomon. He was of the royal family in Edom.

Then the Lord raised up an adversary against Solomon, Hadad the Edomite; he was of the royal line in Edom.

Now the Lord raised up an adversary against Solomon, Hadad the Edomite; he was a descendant of the king in Edom.

And Jehovah raised up an adversary unto Solomon, Hadad the Edomite: he was of the king’s seed in Edom.

So the Lord raised up Hadad the Edomite as an enemy against Solomon. He was of the royal family in Edom.

And the LORD stirred up an adversary unto Solomon, Hadad the Edomite: he[ was] of the king’s seed in Edom.

The LORD brought against Solomon an enemy, Hadad the Edomite, a descendant of the Edomite king.

Yahweh raised up an adversary to Solomon: Hadad the Edomite. He was one of the king’s offspring in Edom.

I will be his father, and he will be my son. When he does wrong, I will punish him with a rod wielded by men, with floggings inflicted by human hands. (niv)

“ If his sons forsake my law and do not follow my statutes,if they violate my decrees and fail to keep my commands,I will punish their sin with the rod, their iniquity with flogging;but I will not take my love from him, nor will I ever betray my faithfulness.I will not violate my covenant or alter what my lips have uttered. Again the anger of the Lord burned against Israel, and he incited David against them, saying,“ Go and take a census of Israel and Judah.” (niv)

Now let my lord the king listen to his servant’s words. If the Lord has incited you against me, then may he accept an offering. If, however, people have done it, may they be cursed before the Lord! They have driven me today from my share in the Lord’s inheritance and have said,‘ Go, serve other gods.’ (niv)

So the king did not listen to the people, for this turn of events was from the Lord, to fulfill the word the Lord had spoken to Jeroboam son of Nebat through Ahijah the Shilonite. (niv)

“ Woe to the Assyrian, the rod of my anger, in whose hand is the club of my wrath! (niv)

The Lord Almighty will lash them with a whip, as when he struck down Midian at the rock of Oreb; and he will raise his staff over the waters, as he did in Egypt. (niv)

So the God of Israel stirred up the spirit of Pul king of Assyria( that is, Tiglath-Pileser king of Assyria), who took the Reubenites, the Gadites and the half-tribe of Manasseh into exile. He took them to Halah, Habor, Hara and the river of Gozan, where they are to this day. (niv)

See, I will stir up against them the Medes, who do not care for silver and have no delight in gold. (niv)
