Now Adonijah and all his guests heard the commotion just as they had finished eating. When Joab heard the sound of the trumpet, he asked,“ Why is there such a noisy commotion in the city?”

Adonijah and all the guests who were with him heard it as they were finishing their feast. On hearing the sound of the trumpet, Joab asked,“ What’s the meaning of all the noise in the city?”

Adonijah and all his guests heard it. They were just finishing their meal. Joab heard the sound of the trumpet. So he asked,“ What does all this noise in the city mean?”

Adonijah and all the guests who were with him heard it as they finished feasting. And when Joab heard the sound of the trumpet, he said,“ What does this uproar in the city mean?”

Adonijah and his guests heard the celebrating and shouting just as they were finishing their banquet. When Joab heard the sound of the ram’s horn, he asked,“ What’s going on? Why is the city in such an uproar?”

Adonijah and all the invited guests who were with him heard the noise as they finished eating. Joab heard the sound of the ram’s horn and said,“ Why is the town in such an uproar?”

Now Adonijah and all the guests who were with him heard this as they finished eating. When Joab heard the sound of the trumpet, he said,“ Why is the city making such an uproar?”

Now Adonijah and all the guests who were with him heard it as they finished eating. And when Joab heard the sound of the horn, he said,“ Why is the city in such a noisy uproar?”

And Adonijah and all the guests that were with him heard it as they had made an end of eating. And when Joab heard the sound of the trumpet, he said, Wherefore is this noise of the city being in an uproar?

Adonijah and all the invited guests who were with him heard the noise as they finished eating. Joab heard the sound of the ram’s horn and said,“ Why is the town in such an uproar?”

And Adonijah and all the guests that[ were] with him heard[ it] as they had made an end of eating. And when Joab heard the sound of the trumpet, he said, Wherefore[ is this] noise of the city being in an uproar?

Adonijah and all the guests who were with him heard it as they had finished eating. When Joab heard the sound of the trumpet, he said,“ Why is this noise of the city being in an uproar?”

But when the chief priests and the experts in the law saw the wonderful things he did and heard the children crying out in the temple courts,“ Hosanna to the Son of David,” they became indignant

Even in laughter the heart may ache, and the end of joy may be grief.

Terrifying sounds fill his ears; in a time of peace marauders attack him.He does not expect to escape from darkness; he is marked for the sword;

For in those days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day Noah entered the ark.And they knew nothing until the flood came and took them all away. It will be the same at the coming of the Son of Man.

Surely you put them in slippery places; you bring them down to ruin.How desolate they become in a mere moment! Terrifying judgments make their demise complete!They are like a dream after one wakes up. O Lord, when you awake you will despise them.

Just as it was in the days of Noah, so too it will be in the days of the Son of Man.People were eating, they were drinking, they were marrying, they were being given in marriage– right up to the day Noah entered the ark. Then the flood came and destroyed them all.Likewise, just as it was in the days of Lot, people were eating, drinking, buying, selling, planting, building;but on the day Lot went out from Sodom, fire and sulfur rained down from heaven and destroyed them all.

The crowds that went ahead of him and those following kept shouting,“ Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!”As he entered Jerusalem the whole city was thrown into an uproar, saying,“ Who is this?”And the crowds were saying,“ This is the prophet Jesus, from Nazareth in Galilee.”

When Joshua heard the noise of the people as they shouted, he said to Moses,“ It is the sound of war in the camp!”

While they were trying to kill him, a report was sent up to the commanding officer of the cohort that all Jerusalem was in confusion.

The heart of the wise is in the house of mourning, but the heart of fools is in the house of merrymaking.It is better for a person to receive a rebuke from those who are wise than to listen to the song of fools.For like the crackling of quick-burning thorns under a cooking pot, so is the laughter of the fool. This kind of folly also is useless.

that the elation of the wicked is brief, the joy of the godless lasts but a moment.
