If anyone sees his fellow Christian committing a sin not resulting in death, he should ask, and God will grant life to the person who commits a sin not resulting in death. There is a sin resulting in death. I do not say that he should ask about that.

Is anyone among you ill? He should summon the elders of the church, and they should pray for him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord.And the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick and the Lord will raise him up– and if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.

Then the LORD said to me,“ Do not pray for good to come to these people!

Then some people said,“ Come on! Let us consider how to deal with Jeremiah! There will still be priests to instruct us, wise men to give us advice, and prophets to declare God’s word. Come on! Let’s bring charges against him and get rid of him! Then we will not need to pay attention to anything he says.”Then I said,“ LORD, pay attention to me. Listen to what my enemies are saying.Should good be paid back with evil? Yet they are virtually digging a pit to kill me. Just remember how I stood before you pleading on their behalf to keep you from venting your anger on them.So let their children die of starvation. Let them be cut down by the sword. Let their wives lose their husbands and children. Let the older men die of disease and the younger men die by the sword in battle.

Then the LORD said to me,“ Even if Moses and Samuel stood before me pleading for these people, I would not feel pity for them! Get them away from me! Tell them to go away!If they ask you,‘ Where should we go?’ tell them the LORD says this:“ Those who are destined to die of disease will go to death by disease. Those who are destined to die in war will go to death in war. Those who are destined to die of starvation will go to death by starvation. Those who are destined to go into exile will go into exile.”

“ I looked for a man from among them who would repair the wall and stand in the gap before me on behalf of the land, so that I would not destroy it, but I found no one.

The LORD said to Moses,“ How long will this people despise me, and how long will they not believe in me, in spite of the signs that I have done among them?I will strike them with the pestilence, and I will disinherit them; I will make you into a nation that is greater and mightier than they!”Moses said to the LORD,“ When the Egyptians hear it– for you brought up this people by your power from among them–then they will tell it to the inhabitants of this land. They have heard that you, LORD, are among this people, that you, LORD, are seen face to face, that your cloud stands over them, and that you go before them by day in a pillar of cloud and in a pillar of fire by night.If you kill this entire people at once, then the nations that have heard of your fame will say,‘ Because the LORD was not able to bring this people into the land that he swore to them, he killed them in the wilderness.’So now, let the power of my Lord be great, just as you have said,‘ The LORD is slow to anger and abounding in loyal love, forgiving iniquity and transgression, but by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children until the third and fourth generations.’Please forgive the iniquity of this people according to your great loyal love, just as you have forgiven this people from Egypt even until now.”Then the LORD said,“ I have forgiven them as you asked.But truly, as I live, all the earth will be filled with the glory of the LORD.

He threatened to destroy them, but Moses, his chosen one, interceded with him and turned back his destructive anger.

Then Moses cried to the LORD,“ Heal her now, O God.”
