Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who loves is a child of God and knows God.

You were cleansed from your sins when you obeyed the truth, so now you must show sincere love to each other as brothers and sisters. Love each other deeply with all your heart.For you have been born again, but not to a life that will quickly end. Your new life will last forever because it comes from the eternal, living word of God.

This is how we know if they have the Spirit of God: If a person claiming to be a prophet acknowledges that Jesus Christ came in a real body, that person has the Spirit of God.

If we love our brothers and sisters who are believers, it proves that we have passed from death to life. But a person who has no love is still dead.

If someone has enough money to live well and sees a brother or sister in need but shows no compassion— how can God’s love be in that person?

If someone says,“ I love God,” but hates a fellow believer, that person is a liar; for if we don’t love people we can see, how can we love God, whom we cannot see?

All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is by his great mercy that we have been born again, because God raised Jesus Christ from the dead. Now we live with great expectation,

As they rode along, they came to some water, and the eunuch said,“ Look! There’s some water! Why can’t I be baptized?”

Those who have been born into God’s family do not make a practice of sinning, because God’s life is in them. So they can’t keep on sinning, because they are children of God.
