我知道在我离开之后，必有凶暴的豺狼进入你们中间，不顾惜羊群。

他说：“你们要小心，不要被人迷惑。因为有许多人要来，假冒我的名说：‘我就是基督’，又说：‘时候近了。’你们不要跟从这些人。

“万军之耶和华以色列的神这样说：‘不要被你们中间的先知和作占卜的欺骗，也不要听信自己所作的梦（“自己所作的梦”原文作“你们的梦，就是你们所促使作的梦”，有古抄本作“他们所作的梦”）。因为他们冒我名对你们说虚假的预言，我并没有差派他们。’这是耶和华的宣告。

但恶人和骗子必越来越坏，他们欺骗人，也必受欺骗。

愚蒙人凡话都信；精明的人却步步谨慎。

“你们中间如果有先知，或作梦的人兴起来，给你显示神迹或奇事；（本节在《马索拉文本》为13:2）他告诉你的神迹和奇事应验了，以致他对你说：‘我们去随从别的、你不认识的神，事奉他们吧。’你不可听从那先知或作梦的人的话；因为耶和华你们的神试验你们，要知道你们是不是一心一意爱耶和华你们的神。你们要顺从耶和华你们的神，敬畏他，遵守他的诫命，听从他的话，事奉他，紧靠他。至于那先知，或作梦的人，你们要把他处死，因为他说了叛逆的话，叛逆了那领你们出埃及地，救赎你脱离为奴之家的耶和华你们的神，要你离弃耶和华你的神吩咐你走的道路。这样你就把那恶从你们中间除掉了。

那时，如果有人对你们说：‘看哪，基督在这里！’或说：‘他在那里！’你们不要信，因为必有假基督和假先知出现，显大神迹和奇事；如果可以的话，他们连选民也要迷惑。你们看！我已经事先告诉你们了。如果他们对你们说：‘看！基督在旷野里。’你们不要出去；或说：‘看！他在内室里。’也不要相信。

这里的人，比帖撒罗尼迦人开明，热切接受主的道，天天考查圣经，要知道所听的是否与圣经相符。

“你们为什么自己不能判断什么是对的呢？

我知道你的行为、你的劳苦、你的忍耐，也知道你不能容忍恶人。你也曾经试验那些自称是使徒，而其实不是使徒的人，看出他们是假的。

先知说假预言，祭司凭己意把持权柄。我的子民竟喜爱这样，到了结局你们怎么办呢？”

那时，如果有人对你们说：‘看哪，基督在这里！看哪，他在那里！’你们不要信。

因为这样的人不服事我们的主基督，只服事自己的肚腹，用花言巧语欺骗老实人的心。你们的顺服已经名闻各处，所以我为你们高兴。我愿你们在善事上有智慧，在恶事上毫不沾染。
