小子乎、爾當恆居主內、使我儕至主顯現、在其降臨之時、得毅然無懼、且可無愧於其前、

總之、望吾小子、常寓基督懷中庶幾於彼重臨之日、吾人得具自信、而不致無顏以對。

基督就是你们的生命，他显现的时候，你们也要和他一同在荣耀里显现。

我的孩子们，我写这些给你们，是要你们不犯罪。如果有人犯了罪，在父的面前我们有一位维护者，就是那义者耶稣基督。

在淫乱罪恶的世代，凡把我和我的道当作可耻的，人子在他父的荣耀里，和圣天使一起降临的时候，也必把他当作可耻的。”

我们主耶稣再来的时候，我们在他面前的盼望、喜乐或所夸耀的冠冕是什么呢？不就是你们吗？

以致你们在恩赐上一无所缺，殷切盼望着我们主耶稣基督的显现；

可是，他来的日子，谁能当得起呢？他显现的时候，谁能站立得住呢？因为他像炼金之人的火，又像漂布之人的碱。

你当毫无玷污，无可指摘地持守这命令，直到我们主耶稣基督的显现。

照样，基督为了担当许多人的罪，也曾经一次把自己献上；将来他还要再一次显现，不是为担当罪，而是要向那些热切期待他的人成全救恩。

是要叫你们的信心经过试验，就比那被火炼过，仍会朽坏的金子更宝贵，可以在耶稣基督显现的时候，得著称赞、荣耀和尊贵。

到那日，必有人说：“看哪！这是我们的神；我们信靠他，他必拯救我们。这是耶和华，我们所倚靠的，我们要因他的拯救欢喜快乐。

正如经上所记：“看哪，我在锡安放了一块绊脚石，是绊倒人的磐石；信靠他的人，必不致失望。”
