至天主對吾人所抱之愛德、則尤吾人所親知、而深信不疑者也。天主即是愛德、是故以愛德為安宅者、即是以天主為安宅、而天主亦以其人為安宅矣。

就吾輩中既成事實、著手編纂、泐成紀錄、

且當予初傳福音、自馬其頓出發之際、未有其他教會與我合作、惟爾斐立比人已慨然與我通有無。
