顧我本人迄未利用此制；吾之書此、亦非欲為己有所主張。何則、我寧死、不願人毀我之榮也。

But I have not used any of these rights. And I am not writing this in the hope that you will do such things for me, for I would rather die than allow anyone to deprive me of this boast.

For my part I have used none of these rights, nor have I written these things that they may be applied in my case. For it would be better for me to die than for anyone to deprive me of my boast!

我在你们那里缺乏的时候，并没有累着你们一个人；因我所缺乏的，那从马其顿来的弟兄们都补足了。我向来凡事谨守，后来也必谨守，总不至于累着你们。既有基督的诚实在我里面，就无人能在亚该亚一带地方阻挡我这自夸。为什么呢？是因我不爱你们吗？这有神知道。我现在所做的，后来还要做，为要断绝那些寻机会人的机会，使他们在所夸的事上也不过与我们一样。

若别人在你们身上有这权柄，何况我们呢？然而，我们没有用过这权柄，倒凡事忍受，免得基督的福音被阻隔。

也未尝白吃人的饭，倒是辛苦劳碌，昼夜做工，免得叫你们一人受累。

他们本是制造帐棚为业。保罗因与他们同业，就和他们同住做工。

弟兄们，你们记念我们的辛苦劳碌，昼夜做工，传神的福音给你们，免得叫你们一人受累。

我这两只手常供给我和同人的需用，这是你们自己知道的。

并且劳苦，亲手做工。被人咒骂，我们就祝福；被人逼迫，我们就忍受；

“凡使这信我的一个小子跌倒的，倒不如把大磨石拴在这人的颈项上，沉在深海里。

除了我不累着你们这一件事，你们还有什么事不及别的教会呢？这不公之处，求你们饶恕我吧。如今，我打算第三次到你们那里去，也必不累着你们；因我所求的是你们，不是你们的财物。儿女不该为父母积财，父母该为儿女积财。我也甘心乐意为你们的灵魂费财费力。难道我越发爱你们，就越发少得你们的爱吗？罢了，我自己并没有累着你们，你们却有人说，我是诡诈，用心计牢笼你们。我所差到你们那里去的人，我藉着他们一个人占过你们的便宜吗？我劝了提多到你们那里去，又差那位兄弟与他同去。提多占过你们的便宜吗？我们行事，不同是一个心灵吗？不同是一个脚踪吗？

扫罗却残害教会，进各人的家，拉着男女下在监里。

我却不以性命为念，也不看为宝贵，只要行完我的路程，成就我从主耶稣所领受的职事，证明神恩惠的福音。

照着我所切慕、所盼望的，没有一事叫我羞愧。只要凡事放胆，无论是生是死，总叫基督在我身上照常显大。因我活着就是基督，我死了就有益处。但我在肉身活着，若成就我工夫的果子，我就不知道该挑选什么。我正在两难之间，情愿离世与基督同在，因为这是好得无比的。
