But I have not used any of these rights. And I am not writing this in the hope that you will do such things for me, for I would rather die than allow anyone to deprive me of this boast.

For my part I have used none of these rights, nor have I written these things that they may be applied in my case. For it would be better for me to die than for anyone to deprive me of my boast!

我在你们那里有缺乏的时候，并没有连累任何人，因为从马其顿来的弟兄们，补足了我的缺乏。我在各方面都不让自己成为你们的重担，将来也是一样。我有基督的真理在我里面，在亚该亚一带没有人能阻止我这样夸口。为什么呢？是我不爱你们吗？神是知道的。我现在所作的，将来还要作，为了要断绝那些投机分子的机会，不让他们在所夸的事上，被人认为是跟我们一样的。

如果别人在你们身上享有这种权利，我们不是更可以享有吗？然而我们没有用过这种权利，反而凡事容忍，免得我们拦阻了基督的福音。

也没有白吃过谁的饭，反而辛苦劳碌，昼夜作工，免得加重你们任何一人的负担。

他们是以做帐棚为业的，因为是同业，保罗就与他们同住，一同工作。

弟兄们，你们应该记得我们的辛苦和劳碌；我们把神的福音传给你们的时候，怎样昼夜作工，免得你们有人受累。

我这两只手，供应了我和同伴的需要，这是你们自己知道的。

并且劳苦，亲手作工。被人咒骂，我们就祝福；遭受迫害，我们就忍受；

但无论谁使一个信我的小弟兄犯罪，倒不如拿一块大磨石拴在他的颈项上，把他沉在深海里。

除了我自己没有成为你们的重担以外，你们还有什么比不上别的教会呢？这一点委屈，请原谅我吧！好了，我打算第三次到你们那里去，这一次也不会成为你们的重担，因为我所要的不是你们的东西，而是你们自己。儿女不需要为父母积财，父母却应该为儿女积财。至于我，我甘心乐意为你们的灵魂付上一切，鞠躬尽瘁。难道我越爱你们，就越得不到你们的爱吗？算了！我没有成为你们的重担，却是个狡猾的人，用诡计牢笼你们。我派到你们那里去的人，我藉着谁占过你们的便宜？我劝提多到你们那里去，又派了那位弟兄一同去。提多占过你们的便宜吗？我们行事，不是同一个心灵吗？不是同样的步伐吗？

扫罗却残害教会，逐家进去，连男带女拉去坐监。

但我并不珍惜自己的性命，只求跑完我的路程，完成我从主耶稣所领受的职分，为神恩惠的福音作见证。

我所热切期待和盼望的，就是在凡事上我都不会羞愧，只要满有胆量，不论生死，总要让基督在我身上照常被尊为大。因为我活着就是基督，我死了就有益处。但如果我仍在世上活着，能够使我的工作有成果，我就不知道应该怎样选择了！我处于两难之间，情愿离世与基督同在，因为那是好得无比的。
