Those who use the things of the world should not become all wrapped up in them. The world as it now exists is passing away.

and those who deal with the world as though they had no dealings with it. For the present form of this world is passing away.

Those who use the things of the world should not become attached to them. For this world as we know it will soon pass away.

and those who use the world as though they did not make full use of it. For this world in its current form is passing away.

Now the end of all things is near; therefore, be serious and disciplined for prayer.

“ Certainly, man walks about like a mere shadow. Indeed, they frantically rush around in vain, gathering possessions without knowing who will get them.

For All flesh is like grass, and all its glory like a flower of the grass. The grass withers, and the flower falls,

Go, eat your bread with pleasure, and drink your wine with a cheerful heart, for God has already accepted your works.Let your clothes be white all the time, and never let oil be lacking on your head.Enjoy life with the wife you love all the days of your fleeting life, which has been given to you under the sun, all your fleeting days. For that is your portion in life and in your struggle under the sun.Whatever your hands find to do, do with all your strength, because there is no work, planning, knowledge, or wisdom in Sheol where you are going.

You don’t even know what tomorrow will bring— what your life will be! For you are like smoke that appears for a little while, then vanishes.

I know that there is nothing better for them than to rejoice and enjoy the good life.It is also the gift of God whenever anyone eats, drinks, and enjoys all his efforts.

What then is my reward? To preach the gospel and offer it free of charge and not make full use of my authority in the gospel.

A generation goes and a generation comes, but the earth remains forever.

He then told them,“ Watch out and be on guard against all greed because one’s life is not in the abundance of his possessions.”Then He told them a parable:“ A rich man’s land was very productive.He thought to himself,‘ What should I do, since I don’t have anywhere to store my crops?I will do this,’ he said.‘ I’ll tear down my barns and build bigger ones and store all my grain and my goods there.Then I’ll say to myself,“ You have many goods stored up for many years. Take it easy; eat, drink, and enjoy yourself.”’“ But God said to him,‘ You fool! This very night your life is demanded of you. And the things you have prepared— whose will they be?’“ That’s how it is with the one who stores up treasure for himself and is not rich toward God.”

“ For it is just like a man going on a journey. He called his own slaves and turned over his possessions to them.To one he gave five talents; to another, two; and to another, one— to each according to his own ability. Then he went on a journey. Immediatelythe man who had received five talents went, put them to work, and earned five more.In the same way the man with two earned two more.But the man who had received one talent went off, dug a hole in the ground, and hid his master’s money.“ After a long time the master of those slaves came and settled accounts with them.The man who had received five talents approached, presented five more talents, and said,‘ Master, you gave me five talents. Look, I’ve earned five more talents.’“ His master said to him,‘ Well done, good and faithful slave! You were faithful over a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. If you knew that I reap where I haven’t sown and gather where I haven’t scattered,then you should have deposited my money with the bankers. And when I returned I would have received my money back with interest.“‘ So take the talent from him and give it to the one who has 10 talents.For to everyone who has, more will be given, and he will have more than enough. But from the one who does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him.

“‘ Well done, good slave!’ he told him.‘ Because you have been faithful in a very small matter, have authority over 10 towns.’“ The second came and said,‘ Master, your mina has made five minas.’“ So he said to him,‘ You will be over five towns.’“ And another came and said,‘ Master, here is your mina. I have kept it hidden away in a clothbecause I was afraid of you, for you’re a tough man: you collect what you didn’t deposit and reap what you didn’t sow.’“ He told him,‘ I will judge you by what you have said, you evil slave! If you knew I was a tough man, collecting what I didn’t deposit and reaping what I didn’t sow,why didn’t you put my money in the bank? And when I returned, I would have collected it with interest!’So he said to those standing there,‘ Take the mina away from him and give it to the one who has 10 minas.’“ But they said to him,‘ Master, he has 10 minas.’“‘ I tell you, that to everyone who has, more will be given; and from the one who does not have, even what he does have will be taken away.

Instruct those who are rich in the present age not to be arrogant or to set their hope on the uncertainty of wealth, but on God, who richly provides us with all things to enjoy.Instruct them to do what is good, to be rich in good works, to be generous, willing to share,

but the one who is rich should boast in his humiliation because he will pass away like a flower of the field.For the sun rises with its scorching heat and dries up the grass; its flower falls off, and its beautiful appearance is destroyed. In the same way, the rich man will wither away while pursuing his activities.

Here is what I have seen to be good: it is appropriate to eat, drink, and experience good in all the labor one does under the sun during the few days of his life God has given him, because that is his reward.God has also given riches and wealth to every man, and He has allowed him to enjoy them, take his reward, and rejoice in his labor. This is a gift of God,for he does not often consider the days of his life because God keeps him occupied with the joy of his heart.

Give a portion to seven or even to eight, for you don’t know what disaster may happen on earth.

Come now, you rich people! Weep and wail over the miseries that are coming on you.Your wealth is ruined and your clothes are moth-eaten.Your silver and gold are corroded, and their corrosion will be a witness against you and will eat your flesh like fire. You stored up treasure in the last days!Look! The pay that you withheld from the workers who reaped your fields cries out, and the outcry of the harvesters has reached the ears of the Lord of Hosts.You have lived luxuriously on the land and have indulged yourselves. You have fattened your hearts for the day of slaughter.

But if that wicked slave says in his heart,‘ My master is delayed,’and starts to beat his fellow slaves, and eats and drinks with drunkards,that slave’s master will come on a day he does not expect and at an hour he does not know.

He also said to the disciples:“ There was a rich man who received an accusation that his manager was squandering his possessions.So he called the manager in and asked,‘ What is this I hear about you? Give an account of your management, because you can no longer be my manager.’

Like one waking from a dream, Lord, when arising, You will despise their image.

There is nothing better for man than to eat, drink, and enjoy his work. I have seen that even this is from God’s hand,because who can eat and who can enjoy life apart from Him?

Rejoice, young man, while you are young, and let your heart be glad in the days of your youth. And walk in the ways of your heart and in the sight of your eyes; but know that for all of these things God will bring you to judgment.Remove sorrow from your heart, and put away pain from your flesh, because youth and the prime of life are fleeting.
