but test everything that is said. Hold on to what is good.

Dear friends, do not believe everyone who claims to speak by the Spirit. You must test them to see if the spirit they have comes from God. For there are many false prophets in the world.

Solid food is for those who are mature, who through training have the skill to recognize the difference between right and wrong.

If you claim to be a prophet or think you are spiritual, you should recognize that what I am saying is a command from the Lord himself.

Dear brothers and sisters, if another believer is overcome by some sin, you who are godly should gently and humbly help that person back onto the right path. And be careful not to fall into the same temptation yourself.

Dear brothers and sisters, when I was with you I couldn’t talk to you as I would to spiritual people. I had to talk as though you belonged to this world or as though you were infants in Christ.

David begged God to spare the child. He went without food and lay all night on the bare ground.The elders of his household pleaded with him to get up and eat with them, but he refused.Then on the seventh day the child died. David’s advisers were afraid to tell him.“ He wouldn’t listen to reason while the child was ill,” they said.“ What drastic thing will he do when we tell him the child is dead?”When David saw them whispering, he realized what had happened.“ Is the child dead?” he asked.“ Yes,” they replied,“ he is dead.”Then David got up from the ground, washed himself, put on lotions, and changed his clothes. He went to the Tabernacle and worshiped the Lord. After that, he returned to the palace and was served food and ate.His advisers were amazed.“ We don’t understand you,” they told him.“ While the child was still living, you wept and refused to eat. But now that the child is dead, you have stopped your mourning and are eating again.”David replied,“ I fasted and wept while the child was alive, for I said,‘ Perhaps the Lord will be gracious to me and let the child live.’But why should I fast when he is dead? Can I bring him back again? I will go to him one day, but he cannot return to me.”

Give me an understanding heart so that I can govern your people well and know the difference between right and wrong. For who by himself is able to govern this great people of yours?”The Lord was pleased that Solomon had asked for wisdom.So God replied,“ Because you have asked for wisdom in governing my people with justice and have not asked for a long life or wealth or the death of your enemies—

The Lord is a friend to those who fear him. He teaches them his covenant.

So don’t make judgments about anyone ahead of time— before the Lord returns. For he will bring our darkest secrets to light and will reveal our private motives. Then God will give to each one whatever praise is due.

Yes, my lord the king will give us peace of mind again.’ I know that you are like an angel of God in discerning good from evil. May the Lord your God be with you.”

Anyone who wants to do the will of God will know whether my teaching is from God or is merely my own.

Those who obey him will not be punished. Those who are wise will find a time and a way to do what is right,

So we have not stopped praying for you since we first heard about you. We ask God to give you complete knowledge of his will and to give you spiritual wisdom and understanding.

And they supported me and did not even demand that my companion Titus be circumcised, though he was a Gentile.Even that question came up only because of some so called believers there— false ones, really— who were secretly brought in. They sneaked in to spy on us and take away the freedom we have in Christ Jesus. They wanted to enslave us and force us to follow their Jewish regulations.But we refused to give in to them for a single moment. We wanted to preserve the truth of the gospel message for you.

This will continue until we all come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God’s Son that we will be mature in the Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ.Then we will no longer be immature like children. We won’t be tossed and blown about by every wind of new teaching. We will not be influenced when people try to trick us with lies so clever they sound like the truth.

so Paul wanted him to join them on their journey. In deference to the Jews of the area, he arranged for Timothy to be circumcised before they left, for everyone knew that his father was a Greek.

While Paul and Barnabas were at Antioch of Syria, some men from Judea arrived and began to teach the believers:“ Unless you are circumcised as required by the law of Moses, you cannot be saved.”Paul and Barnabas disagreed with them, arguing vehemently. Finally, the church decided to send Paul and Barnabas to Jerusalem, accompanied by some local believers, to talk to the apostles and elders about this question.The church sent the delegates to Jerusalem, and they stopped along the way in Phoenicia and Samaria to visit the believers. They told them— much to everyone’s joy— that the Gentiles, too, were being converted.When they arrived in Jerusalem, Barnabas and Paul were welcomed by the whole church, including the apostles and elders. They reported everything God had done through them.But then some of the believers who belonged to the sect of the Pharisees stood up and insisted,“ The Gentile converts must be circumcised and required to follow the law of Moses.”

For I want you to understand what really matters, so that you may live pure and blameless lives until the day of Christ’s return.
