For if the trumpet produces an indistinct sound, who will prepare himself for battle?

若吹无定的号声，谁能预备打仗呢？

号角吹出来的音若不清楚，谁会预备打仗呢？

如果号声不清楚，谁会预备打仗呢？

又如果军号所发的声音不清楚，谁会准备作战呢？

实际上，如果号角发出的声音真的不清楚，谁会准备好出战呢？

若吹無定的號聲，誰能預備打仗呢？

號角吹出來的音若不清楚，誰會預備打仗呢？

號角吹出來的音若不清楚，誰會預備打仗呢？

如果號聲不清楚，誰會預備打仗呢？

又如果軍號所發的聲音不清楚，誰會準備作戰呢？

就是號筒罷、若發出無定的聲音來，誰能豫備出戰呢？

實際上，如果號角發出的聲音真的不清楚，誰會準備好出戰呢？

角聲無定、孰備戰乎、

如吹角而音無別、奚以備戰乎、

若角不發一定之聲、誰備戰乎、

再如吹角、若發音含混不明、其誰復鼓舞精神、從事戰鬥耶？

For if the trumpet makes an uncertain sound, who will prepare for battle?

For if the trumpet give an uncertain voice, who shall prepare himself for war?

In fact, if the trumpet makes an unclear sound, who will prepare for battle?

For if the trumpet give an uncertain sound, who shall prepare himself to the battle?

If, for example, the trumpet makes an unclear sound, who will get ready for battle?

For if the trumpet gave an uncertain sound, who would prepare himself for war?

And when you go to war in your land against the enemy who attacks you, then you shall sound an alarm with the trumpets, so that you will be thought of by the Lord your God, and be saved from your enemies.

My soul, my soul! I am in anguish! Oh, my heart! My heart is pounding in me; I cannot keep silent, Because, my soul, you have heard The sound of the trumpet, The alarm of war.

He races over the ground with a roar and fury, And he does not stand still when he hears the sound of the trumpet.As often as the trumpet sounds he says,‘ Aha!’ And he senses the battle from afar, And the thunder of the captains and the war cry.

If a trumpet is blown in a city, will the people not tremble? If a disaster occurs in a city, has the Lord not brought it about?

Also seven priests shall carry seven trumpets of rams’ horns in front of the ark; then on the seventh day you shall march around the city seven times, and the priests shall blow the trumpets.It shall be that when they make a long blast with the ram’s horn, and when you hear the sound of the trumpet, all the people shall shout with a great shout; and the wall of the city will fall down flat, and the people shall go up, everyone straight ahead.”So Joshua the son of Nun called the priests and said to them,“ Take up the ark of the covenant, and have seven priests carry seven trumpets of rams’ horns in front of the ark of the Lord.”Then he said to the people,“ Go forward and march around the city, and the armed men shall go on ahead of the ark of the Lord.”And it was so, that when Joshua had spoken to the people, the seven priests carrying the seven trumpets of rams’ horns before the Lord went forward and blew the trumpets; and the ark of the covenant of the Lord followed them.And the armed men went ahead of the priests who blew the trumpets, and the rear guard came after the ark, while they continued to blow the trumpets.But Joshua commanded the people, saying,“ You shall not shout nor let your voice be heard, nor let a word proceed from your mouth, until the day I tell you,‘ Shout!’ Then you shall shout!”So he had the ark of the Lord taken around the city, circling it once; then they came into the camp and spent the night in the camp.Now Joshua got up early in the morning, and the priests took up the ark of the Lord.Then the seven priests carrying the seven trumpets of rams’ horns in front of the ark of the Lord went on continually, and blew the trumpets; and the armed men went ahead of them, and the rear guard came after the ark of the Lord, while they continued to blow the trumpets.So the second day they marched around the city once and returned to the camp; they did the same for six days.Then on the seventh day they got up early at the dawning of the day and marched around the city in the same way seven times; only on that day did they march around the city seven times.And at the seventh time, when the priests blew the trumpets, Joshua said to the people,“ Shout! For the Lord has given you the city.But the city shall be designated for destruction, it and everything that is in it belongs to the Lord; only Rahab the prostitute and all who are with her in the house shall live, because she hid the messengers whom we sent.But as for you, only keep yourselves from the things designated for destruction, so that you do not covet them and take some of the designated things, and turn the camp of Israel into something designated for destruction and bring disaster on it.But all the silver and gold, and articles of bronze and iron are holy to the Lord; they shall go into the treasury of the Lord.”So the people shouted, and the priests blew the trumpets; and when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, the people shouted with a great shout, and the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, everyone straight ahead, and they took the city.

It will come about also on that day that a great trumpet will be blown, and those who were perishing in the land of Assyria and who were scattered in the land of Egypt will come and worship the Lord on the holy mountain in Jerusalem.

As for the builders, each wore his sword strapped to his waist as he built, while the trumpeter stood near me.And I said to the nobles, the officials, and the rest of the people,“ The work is great and extensive, and we are separated on the wall far from one another.At whatever place you hear the sound of the trumpet, assemble to us there. Our God will fight for us.”So we carried on the work with half of them holding spears from dawn until the stars appeared.

Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist on the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm.Stand firm therefore, having belted your waist with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness,and having strapped on your feet the preparation of the gospel of peace;in addition to all, taking up the shield of faith with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.And take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.With every prayer and request, pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view, be alert with all perseverance and every request for all the saints,

and he sees the sword coming upon the land and blows the horn and warns the people,then someone who hears the sound of the horn but does not take warning, and a sword comes and takes him away, his blood will be on his own head.He heard the sound of the horn but did not take warning; his blood will be on himself. But had he taken warning, he would have saved his life.But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the horn and the people are not warned, and a sword comes and takes a person from them, he is taken away for his wrongdoing; but I will require his blood from the watchman’s hand.’

And he divided the three hundred men into three units, and he put trumpets and empty pitchers into the hands of all of them, with torches inside the pitchers.Then he said to them,“ Look at me and do likewise. And behold, when I come to the outskirts of the camp, do as I do.When I and all who are with me blow the trumpet, then you also blow the trumpets around the entire camp and say,‘ For the Lord and for Gideon!’ ”

Blow a trumpet in Zion, And sound an alarm on My holy mountain! Let all the inhabitants of the land tremble, For the day of the Lord is coming; Indeed, it is near,
