Or do you think God’s word originated with you Corinthians? Are you the only ones to whom it was given?

Or did the word of God originate from you, or did it come to you only?

What? was it from you that the word of God went forth? or came it unto you alone?

We, however, will not boast beyond measure, but within the limits of the sphere which God appointed us— a sphere which especially includes you.For we are not overextending ourselves( as though our authority did not extend to you), for it was to you that we came with the gospel of Christ;not boasting of things beyond measure, that is, in other men’s labors, but having hope, that as your faith is increased, we shall be greatly enlarged by you in our sphere,to preach the gospel in the regions beyond you, and not to boast in another man’s sphere of accomplishment.

Now in the church that was at Antioch there were certain prophets and teachers: Barnabas, Simeon who was called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen who had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.As they ministered to the Lord and fasted, the Holy Spirit said,“ Now separate to Me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.”Then, having fasted and prayed, and laid hands on them, they sent them away.

Now when they had passed through Amphipolis and Apollonia, they came to Thessalonica, where there was a synagogue of the Jews.

For who makes you differ from another? And what do you have that you did not receive? Now if you did indeed receive it, why do you boast as if you had not received it?

So those who conducted Paul brought him to Athens; and receiving a command for Silas and Timothy to come to him with all speed, they departed.

And a vision appeared to Paul in the night. A man of Macedonia stood and pleaded with him, saying,“ Come over to Macedonia and help us.”Now after he had seen the vision, immediately we sought to go to Macedonia, concluding that the Lord had called us to preach the gospel to them.

For from you the word of the Lord has sounded forth, not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place. Your faith toward God has gone out, so that we do not need to say anything.

Then the brethren immediately sent Paul and Silas away by night to Berea. When they arrived, they went into the synagogue of the Jews.These were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so.

And in that day it shall be That living waters shall flow from Jerusalem, Half of them toward the eastern sea And half of them toward the western sea; In both summer and winter it shall occur.

Now it shall come to pass in the latter days That the mountain of the LORD’s house Shall be established on the top of the mountains, And shall be exalted above the hills; And peoples shall flow to it.Many nations shall come and say,“ Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, To the house of the God of Jacob; He will teach us His ways, And we shall walk in His paths.” For out of Zion the law shall go forth, And the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.

Paul and Barnabas also remained in Antioch, teaching and preaching the word of the Lord, with many others also.Then after some days Paul said to Barnabas,“ Let us now go back and visit our brethren in every city where we have preached the word of the Lord, and see how they are doing.”

Many people shall come and say,“ Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, To the house of the God of Jacob; He will teach us His ways, And we shall walk in His paths.” For out of Zion shall go forth the law, And the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.

After these things Paul departed from Athens and went to Corinth.And he found a certain Jew named Aquila, born in Pontus, who had recently come from Italy with his wife Priscilla( because Claudius had commanded all the Jews to depart from Rome); and he came to them.So, because he was of the same trade, he stayed with them and worked; for by occupation they were tentmakers.And he reasoned in the synagogue every Sabbath, and persuaded both Jews and Greeks.When Silas and Timothy had come from Macedonia, Paul was compelled by the Spirit, and testified to the Jews that Jesus is the Christ.But when they opposed him and blasphemed, he shook his garments and said to them,“ Your blood be upon your own heads; I am clean. From now on I will go to the Gentiles.”And he departed from there and entered the house of a certain man named Justus, one who worshiped God, whose house was next door to the synagogue.Then Crispus, the ruler of the synagogue, believed on the Lord with all his household. And many of the Corinthians, hearing, believed and were baptized.Now the Lord spoke to Paul in the night by a vision,“ Do not be afraid, but speak, and do not keep silent;for I am with you, and no one will attack you to hurt you; for I have many people in this city.”And he continued there a year and six months, teaching the word of God among them.When Gallio was proconsul of Achaia, the Jews with one accord rose up against Paul and brought him to the judgment seat,saying,“ This fellow persuades men to worship God contrary to the law.”And when Paul was about to open his mouth, Gallio said to the Jews,“ If it were a matter of wrongdoing or wicked crimes, O Jews, there would be reason why I should bear with you.But if it is a question of words and names and your own law, look to it yourselves; for I do not want to be a judge of such matters.”And he drove them from the judgment seat.Then all the Greeks took Sosthenes, the ruler of the synagogue, and beat him before the judgment seat. But Gallio took no notice of these things.
