接着，保罗按手在他们身上，圣灵就临到了他们。他们就说起殊言，又说预言。

当神说到“新约”，就已经把第一个当做旧的；而那渐渐变旧、渐渐变老的，很快就要消逝了。

所以现在常存的有信、望、爱这三样；而其中更大的是爱。

如果我能说人间和天使的各种殊言，却没有爱，我就成了嘈杂的锣、鸣响的钹；如果我有做先知传道的恩赐，也明白一切奥秘、一切知识，并有全备的信，以致能移山，却没有爱，我就一无所是；

因为在基督耶稣里，受割礼或不受割礼都没有用处，只有藉着爱行出来的信仰才有用处。

于是他们都被圣灵充满，就照着圣灵赐给他们的话，开始说出别种语言。

但那完全的来到时，这有限的就将被废除。

又有人被赐予了大能的功用，又有人被赐予了做先知传道的恩赐，又有人被赐予了对不同灵的分辨力，另有人被赐予了各种殊言，又有人被赐予了翻译殊言的恩赐。

但是，我已经为你祈求，使你不失去信仰。所以当你回转过来的时候，要坚固你的弟兄们。”

在教会中，神所安排的：首先是使徒，第二是做先知传道的，第三是教师，然后是有大能的；随后是使人痊愈的恩赐、帮助的恩赐、管理的恩赐、各种殊言的恩赐。难道都是使徒吗？都是做先知传道的吗？都是教师吗？都是有大能的吗？都有使人痊愈的恩赐吗？都说殊言吗？都翻译殊言吗？

所以，我的弟兄们，你们要渴慕做先知传道，也不要禁止说殊言。
