but God chose the foolish things of the world that he might put to shame those who are wise. God chose the weak things of the world that he might put to shame the things that are strong.

雖然、世俗所視為愚者、天主則簡拔之、以愧眾哲；世俗所視為弱者、天主則簡拔之、以勝強有力者；

But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong.

Instead, God chose things the world considers foolish in order to shame those who think they are wise. And he chose things that are powerless to shame those who are powerful.

Instead, God has chosen what is foolish in the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen what is weak in the world to shame the strong.

Listen, my beloved brothers. Didn’t God choose those who are poor in this world to be rich in faith, and heirs of the Kingdom which he promised to those who love him?

Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the lawyer of this world? Hasn’t God made foolish the wisdom of this world?

At that time, Jesus answered,“ I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you hid these things from the wise and understanding, and revealed them to infants.

From the lips of babes and infants you have established strength, because of your adversaries, that you might silence the enemy and the avenger.

He is‘ the stone which was regarded as worthless by you, the builders, which has become the head of the corner.’There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!”Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and had perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marveled. They recognized that they had been with Jesus.Seeing the man who was healed standing with them, they could say nothing against it.But when they had commanded them to go aside out of the council, they conferred among themselves,saying,“ What shall we do to these men? Because indeed a notable miracle has been done through them, as can be plainly seen by all who dwell in Jerusalem, and we can’t deny it.But so that this spreads no further among the people, let’s threaten them, that from now on they don’t speak to anyone in this name.”They called them, and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus.But Peter and John answered them,“ Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you rather than to God, judge for yourselves,for we can’t help telling the things which we saw and heard.”When they had further threatened them, they let them go, finding no way to punish them, because of the people; for everyone glorified God for that which was done.

therefore, behold, I will proceed to do a marvelous work among this people, even a marvelous work and a wonder; and the wisdom of their wise men will perish, and the understanding of their prudent men will be hidden.”

for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but mighty before God to the throwing down of strongholds,throwing down imaginations and every high thing that is exalted against the knowledge of God and bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,

for I will give you a mouth and wisdom which all your adversaries will not be able to withstand or to contradict.

and said to him,“ Do you hear what these are saying?” Jesus said to them,“ Yes. Did you never read,‘ Out of the mouth of babes and nursing babies you have perfected praise?’”

But we have this treasure in clay vessels, that the exceeding greatness of the power may be of God, and not from ourselves.

For he has brought down those who dwell on high, the lofty city. He lays it low. He lays it low even to the ground. He brings it even to the dust.The foot shall tread it down, even the feet of the poor and the steps of the needy.”

But I will leave among you an afflicted and poor people, and they will take refuge in Yahweh’s name.

For,“ His letters”, they say,“ are weighty and strong, but his bodily presence is weak, and his speech is despised.”

The humble also will increase their joy in Yahweh, and the poor among men will rejoice in the Holy One of Israel.

But after some days, Felix came with Drusilla, his wife, who was a Jewess, and sent for Paul, and heard him concerning the faith in Christ Jesus.As he reasoned about righteousness, self- control, and the judgment to come, Felix was terrified, and answered,“ Go your way for this time, and when it is convenient for me, I will summon you.”

Some of the Pharisees from the multitude said to him,“ Teacher, rebuke your disciples!”He answered them,“ I tell you that if these were silent, the stones would cry out.”

Walking by the sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers: Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew, his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen.He said to them,“ Come after me, and I will make you fishers for men.”They immediately left their nets and followed him.Going on from there, he saw two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets. He called them.They immediately left the boat and their father, and followed him.

As Jesus passed by from there, he saw a man called Matthew sitting at the tax collection office. He said to him,“ Follow me.” He got up and followed him.

Some of the Epicurean and Stoic philosophers also were conversing with him. Some said,“ What does this babbler want to say?” Others said,“ He seems to be advocating foreign deities,” because he preached Jesus and the resurrection.

“ This Moses, whom they refused, saying,‘ Who made you a ruler and a judge?’— God has sent him as both a ruler and a deliverer by the hand of the angel who appeared to him in the bush.

But some of those who were of the synagogue called“ The Libertines”, and of the Cyrenians, of the Alexandrians, and of those of Cilicia and Asia arose, disputing with Stephen.They weren’t able to withstand the wisdom and the Spirit by which he spoke.

Now when they heard these things, they were cut to the heart, and they gnashed at him with their teeth.
