諭旨一出，以色列人就把初熟的五穀、新酒、油、蜜，和田地的出產多多送來，又把各物的十分之一送來的極多。住猶大各城的以色列人和猶大人也將牛羊的十分之一，並分別為聖歸耶和華－他們神之物，就是十分取一之物，盡都送來，積成堆壘；從三月積起，到七月才完。希西家和眾首領來，看見堆壘，就稱頌耶和華，又為耶和華的民以色列人祝福。希西家向祭司、利未人查問這堆壘。撒督家的大祭司亞撒利雅回答說：「自從民將供物送到耶和華殿以來，我們不但吃飽，且剩下的甚多；因為耶和華賜福給他的民，所剩下的才這樣豐盛。」希西家吩咐在耶和華殿裏預備倉房，他們就預備了。他們誠心將供物和十分取一之物，並分別為聖之物，都搬入倉內。利未人歌楠雅掌管這事，他兄弟示每為副管。

利未子孫中有亞希雅掌管神殿的府庫和聖物的府庫。革順族、拉但子孫裏，作族長的是革順族拉但的子孫耶希伊利。耶希伊利的兒子西坦和他兄弟約珥掌管耶和華殿裏的府庫。暗蘭族、以斯哈族、希伯倫族、烏泄族也有職分。摩西的孫子、革舜的兒子細布業掌管府庫。還有他的弟兄以利以謝。以利以謝的兒子是利哈比雅；利哈比雅的兒子是耶篩亞；耶篩亞的兒子是約蘭；約蘭的兒子是細基利；細基利的兒子是示羅密。這示羅密和他的弟兄掌管府庫的聖物，就是大衛王和眾族長、千夫長、百夫長，並軍長所分別為聖的物。他們將爭戰時所奪的財物分別為聖，以備修造耶和華的殿。

便為他預備一間大屋子，就是從前收存素祭、乳香、器皿，和照命令供給利未人、歌唱的、守門的五穀、新酒，和油的十分之一，並歸祭司舉祭的屋子。
