耶罗波安却派伏兵绕到犹大人的背后。这样，犹大人前面有以色列人，他们背后也有伏兵。犹大人转身，看见自己前后受敌，就呼求耶和华，祭司也都吹号。于是犹大人大声吶喊；犹大人大声吶喊的时候，神就在亚比雅和犹大人面前，使耶罗波安和以色列众人大败而逃。

撒母耳搬来了一块石头，把它竖立在米斯巴和善之间，给这块石头起名叫以便以谢，说：“直到现在，耶和华都帮助我们。”

战车长们看见约沙法的时候，就说：“这人必是以色列王。”他们就转过去与他争战，约沙法便喊叫起来。

摩西举起手来的时候，以色列人就得胜；摩西把手放下来的时候，亚玛力人就得胜。

希西家王和亚摩斯的儿子以赛亚先知为了这事祷告，向天呼求。耶和华就差派一位使者，进入亚述王的军营中，把所有英勇的战士、官长和将帅，尽都消灭了。亚述王满面羞愧返回本国去了。他进入自己的神庙的时候，他亲生的儿子在那里用刀把他杀了。

神是我们的避难所，是我们的力量，是我们在患难中随时都可得到的帮助。

藉着我们这在基督里首先有盼望的人，使他的荣耀得着颂赞。

因为耶和华神是太阳，是盾牌，耶和华赐下恩惠和光荣；他没有留下一样好处，不给那些行为正直的人。万军之耶和华啊！倚靠你的人是有福的。

扫罗又派人去看大卫说：“你们把他连床一起抬到我这里来，我好杀死他。”
