They held a feast before the LORD that day and celebrated. Then they designated Solomon, David’s son, as king a second time; before the LORD they anointed him as ruler and Zadok as priest.

是日於耶和華前、式飲式食、喜樂不勝、復立大衛子所羅門為王、膏之歸耶和華為君、亦膏撒督為祭司、

在耶和華前、式飲式食、欣喜懽忭、以大闢子所羅門再立為王、奉耶和華命、沐之以膏、俾作民主、以撒督為祭司長、

眾於是日、皆大喜樂、式食式飲於主前、以大衛子所羅門再立為王、膏之於主前為君、又膏撒督為大祭司、

They ate and drank with great joy in the presence of the Lord that day. Then they acknowledged Solomon son of David as king a second time, anointing him before the Lord to be ruler and Zadok to be priest.

They ate and drank with great joy that day. They did it in front of the Lord. Then they announced a second time that Solomon was king. He was the son of David. They anointed Solomon in front of the Lord. They anointed him to be ruler. They also anointed Zadok to be priest.

And they ate and drank before the Lord on that day with great gladness. And they made Solomon the son of David king the second time, and they anointed him as prince for the Lord, and Zadok as priest.

They feasted and drank in the Lord’s presence with great joy that day. And again they crowned David’s son Solomon as their new king. They anointed him before the Lord as their leader, and they anointed Zadok as priest.

They ate and drank with great joy in the LORD’s presence that day. Then, for a second time, they made David’s son Solomon king; they anointed him as the LORD’s ruler, and Zadok as the priest.

So they ate and drank that day before the Lord with great gladness. And they made Solomon the son of David king a second time, and they anointed him as ruler for the Lord and Zadok as priest.

When David was old and approaching the end of his life, he made his son Solomon king over Israel.

The king appointed Benaiah son of Jehoiada to take his place at the head of the army, and the king appointed Zadok the priest to take Abiathar’s place.

There Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet will anoint him king over Israel; then blow the trumpet and declare,‘ Long live King Solomon!’Then follow him up as he comes and sits on my throne. He will be king in my place; I have decreed that he will be ruler over Israel and Judah.”Benaiah son of Jehoiada responded to the king:“ So be it! May the LORD God of my master the king confirm it!As the LORD is with my master the king, so may he be with Solomon, and may he make him an even greater king than my master King David!”So Zadok the priest, Nathan the prophet, Benaiah son of Jehoiada, the Kerethites, and the Pelethites went down, put Solomon on King David’s mule, and led him to Gihon.Zadok the priest took a horn filled with olive oil from the tent and poured it on Solomon; the trumpet was blown and all the people declared,“ Long live King Solomon!”

Go, eat your food with joy, and drink your wine with a happy heart, because God has already approved your works.

Both you and your families must feast there before the LORD your God and rejoice in all the output of your labor with which he has blessed you.

Bathsheba bowed down to the king with her face to the floor and said,“ May my master, King David, live forever!”

I have concluded that there is nothing better for people than to be happy and to enjoy themselves as long as they live,and also that everyone should eat and drink, and find enjoyment in all his toil, for these things are a gift from God.

Then you must come to the place the LORD your God chooses for his name to reside, bringing everything I am commanding you– your burnt offerings, sacrifices, tithes, the personal offerings you have prepared, and all your choice votive offerings which you devote to him.You shall rejoice in the presence of the LORD your God, along with your sons, daughters, male and female servants, and the Levites in your villages( since they have no allotment or inheritance with you).

Command those who are rich in this world’s goods not to be haughty or to set their hope on riches, which are uncertain, but on God who richly provides us with all things for our enjoyment.Tell them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, to be generous givers, sharing with others.

So I recommend the enjoyment of life, for there is nothing better on earth for a person to do except to eat, drink, and enjoy life. So joy will accompany him in his toil during the days of his life which God gives him on earth.

You are to rejoice in your festival, you, your son, your daughter, your male and female slaves, the Levites, the resident foreigners, the orphans, and the widows who are in your villages.You are to celebrate the festival seven days before the LORD your God in the place he chooses, for he will bless you in all your productivity and in whatever you do; so you will indeed rejoice!Three times a year all your males must appear before the LORD your God in the place he chooses for the Festival of Unleavened Bread, the Festival of Weeks, and the Festival of Temporary Shelters; and they must not appear before him empty-handed.Every one of you must give as you are able, according to the blessing of the LORD your God that he has given you.

So all the people departed to eat and drink and to share their food with others and to enjoy tremendous joy, for they had gained insight in the matters that had been made known to them.

On the twenty-third day of the seventh month, Solomon sent the people home. They left happy and contented because of the good the LORD had done for David, Solomon, and his people Israel.

But he did not lay a hand on the leaders of the Israelites, so they saw God, and they ate and they drank.

There is nothing better for people than to eat and drink, and to find enjoyment in their work. I also perceived that this ability to find enjoyment comes from God.
