They ate and drank with great joy in the presence of the Lord that day. Then they acknowledged Solomon son of David as king a second time, anointing him before the Lord to be ruler and Zadok to be priest.

Then blow the trumpet and say,‘ Long live King Solomon!’You shall then come up after him, and he shall come and sit on my throne, for he shall be king in my place. And I have appointed him to be ruler over Israel and over Judah.”And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada answered the king,“ Amen! May the Lord, the God of my lord the king, say so.As the Lord has been with my lord the king, even so may he be with Solomon, and make his throne greater than the throne of my lord King David.”So Zadok the priest, Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and the Cherethites and the Pelethites went down and had Solomon ride on King David’s mule and brought him to Gihon.There Zadok the priest took the horn of oil from the tent and anointed Solomon. Then they blew the trumpet, and all the people said,“ Long live King Solomon!”

Go, eat your bread with joy, and drink your wine with a merry heart, for God has already approved what you do.

And there you shall eat before the Lord your God, and you shall rejoice, you and your households, in all that you undertake, in which the Lord your God has blessed you.

Then Bathsheba bowed with her face to the ground and paid homage to the king and said,“ May my lord King David live forever!”

And I commend joy, for man has nothing better under the sun but to eat and drink and be joyful, for this will go with him in his toil through the days of his life that God has given him under the sun.

You shall rejoice in your feast, you and your son and your daughter, your male servant and your female servant, the Levite, the sojourner, the fatherless, and the widow who are within your towns.For seven days you shall keep the feast to the Lord your God at the place that the Lord will choose, because the Lord your God will bless you in all your produce and in all the work of your hands, so that you will be altogether joyful.“ Three times a year all your males shall appear before the Lord your God at the place that he will choose: at the Feast of Unleavened Bread, at the Feast of Weeks, and at the Feast of Booths. They shall not appear before the Lord empty-handed.Every man shall give as he is able, according to the blessing of the Lord your God that he has given you.

And all the people went their way to eat and drink and to send portions and to make great rejoicing, because they had understood the words that were declared to them.

On the twenty-third day of the seventh month he sent the people away to their homes, joyful and glad of heart for the prosperity that the Lord had granted to David and to Solomon and to Israel his people.

And he did not lay his hand on the chief men of the people of Israel; they beheld God, and ate and drank.

There is nothing better for a person than that he should eat and drink and find enjoyment in his toil. This also, I saw, is from the hand of God,
