And David told Solomon how much pure gold should be used to make the altar for burning incense. He also gave Solomon the plan for the chariot of the gold cherubim. The cherubim spread their wings over the ark of the covenant of the Lord.

He designated the amount of refined gold for the altar of incense. Finally, he gave him a plan for the Lord’s“ chariot”— the gold cherubim whose wings were stretched out over the Ark of the Lord’s Covenant.

And thou shalt make two cherubims[ of] gold,[ of] beaten work shalt thou make them, in the two ends of the mercy seat.And make one cherub on the one end, and the other cherub on the other end:[ even] of the mercy seat shall ye make the cherubims on the two ends thereof.And the cherubims shall stretch forth[ their] wings on high, covering the mercy seat with their wings, and their faces[ shall look] one to another; toward the mercy seat shall the faces of the cherubims be.And thou shalt put the mercy seat above upon the ark; and in the ark thou shalt put the testimony that I shall give thee.And there I will meet with thee, and I will commune with thee from above the mercy seat, from between the two cherubims which[ are] upon the ark of the testimony, of all[ things] which I will give thee in commandment unto the children of Israel.

And thou shalt make an altar to burn incense upon:[ of] shittim wood shalt thou make it.A cubit[ shall be] the length thereof, and a cubit the breadth thereof; foursquare shall it be: and two cubits[ shall be] the height thereof: the horns thereof[ shall be] of the same.And thou shalt overlay it with pure gold, the top thereof, and the sides thereof round about, and the horns thereof; and thou shalt make unto it a crown of gold round about.And two golden rings shalt thou make to it under the crown of it, by the two corners thereof, upon the two sides of it shalt thou make[ it]; and they shall be for places for the staves to bear it withal.And thou shalt make the staves[ of] shittim wood, and overlay them with gold.And thou shalt put it before the vail that[ is] by the ark of the testimony, before the mercy seat that[ is] over the testimony, where I will meet with thee.And Aaron shall burn thereon sweet incense every morning: when he dresseth the lamps, he shall burn incense upon it.And when Aaron lighteth the lamps at even, he shall burn incense upon it, a perpetual incense before the LORD throughout your generations.Ye shall offer no strange incense thereon, nor burnt sacrifice, nor meat offering; neither shall ye pour drink offering thereon.And Aaron shall make an atonement upon the horns of it once in a year with the blood of the sin offering of atonements: once in the year shall he make atonement upon it throughout your generations: it[ is] most holy unto the LORD.

The LORD reigneth; let the people tremble: he sitteth[ between] the cherubims; let the earth be moved.

So the people sent to Shiloh, that they might bring from thence the ark of the covenant of the LORD of hosts, which dwelleth[ between] the cherubims: and the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas,[ were] there with the ark of the covenant of God.

And he rode upon a cherub, and did fly: yea, he did fly upon the wings of the wind.

Now as I beheld the living creatures, behold one wheel upon the earth by the living creatures, with his four faces.The appearance of the wheels and their work[ was] like unto the colour of a beryl: and they four had one likeness: and their appearance and their work[ was] as it were a wheel in the middle of a wheel.When they went, they went upon their four sides:[ and] they turned not when they went.As for their rings, they were so high that they were dreadful; and their rings[ were] full of eyes round about them four.And when the living creatures went, the wheels went by them: and when the living creatures were lifted up from the earth, the wheels were lifted up.Whithersoever the spirit was to go, they went, thither[ was their] spirit to go; and the wheels were lifted up over against them: for the spirit of the living creature[ was] in the wheels.When those went,[ these] went; and when those stood,[ these] stood; and when those were lifted up from the earth, the wheels were lifted up over against them: for the spirit of the living creature[ was] in the wheels.And the likeness of the firmament upon the heads of the living creature[ was] as the colour of the terrible crystal, stretched forth over their heads above.And under the firmament[ were] their wings straight, the one toward the other: every one had two, which covered on this side, and every one had two, which covered on that side, their bodies.And when they went, I heard the noise of their wings, like the noise of great waters, as the voice of the Almighty, the voice of speech, as the noise of an host: when they stood, they let down their wings.

And Solomon made all the vessels that[ pertained] unto the house of the LORD: the altar of gold, and the table of gold, whereupon the shewbread[ was],

Give ear, O Shepherd of Israel, thou that leadest Joseph like a flock; thou that dwellest[ between] the cherubims, shine forth.

And within the oracle he made two cherubims[ of] olive tree,[ each] ten cubits high.And five cubits[ was] the one wing of the cherub, and five cubits the other wing of the cherub: from the uttermost part of the one wing unto the uttermost part of the other[ were] ten cubits.And the other cherub[ was] ten cubits: both the cherubims[ were] of one measure and one size.The height of the one cherub[ was] ten cubits, and so[ was it] of the other cherub.And he set the cherubims within the inner house: and they stretched forth the wings of the cherubims, so that the wing of the one touched the[ one] wall, and the wing of the other cherub touched the other wall; and their wings touched one another in the midst of the house.And he overlaid the cherubims with gold.And he carved all the walls of the house round about with carved figures of cherubims and palm trees and open flowers, within and without.And the floor of the house he overlaid with gold, within and without.

And over it the cherubims of glory shadowing the mercyseat; of which we cannot now speak particularly.

And he spake unto the man clothed with linen, and said, Go in between the wheels,[ even] under the cherub, and fill thine hand with coals of fire from between the cherubims, and scatter[ them] over the city. And he went in in my sight.Now the cherubims stood on the right side of the house, when the man went in; and the cloud filled the inner court.Then the glory of the LORD went up from the cherub,[ and stood] over the threshold of the house; and the house was filled with the cloud, and the court was full of the brightness of the LORD’S glory.And the sound of the cherubims’ wings was heard[ even] to the outer court, as the voice of the Almighty God when he speaketh.And it came to pass,[ that] when he had commanded the man clothed with linen, saying, Take fire from between the wheels, from between the cherubims; then he went in, and stood beside the wheels.And[ one] cherub stretched forth his hand from between the cherubims unto the fire that[ was] between the cherubims, and took[ thereof], and put[ it] into the hands of[ him that was] clothed with linen: who took[ it], and went out.And there appeared in the cherubims the form of a man’s hand under their wings.And when I looked, behold the four wheels by the cherubims, one wheel by one cherub, and another wheel by another cherub: and the appearance of the wheels[ was] as the colour of a beryl stone.And[ as for] their appearances, they four had one likeness, as if a wheel had been in the midst of a wheel.When they went, they went upon their four sides; they turned not as they went, but to the place whither the head looked they followed it; they turned not as they went.And their whole body, and their backs, and their hands, and their wings, and the wheels,[ were] full of eyes round about,[ even] the wheels that they four had.As for the wheels, it was cried unto them in my hearing, O wheel.And every one had four faces: the first face[ was] the face of a cherub, and the second face[ was] the face of a man, and the third the face of a lion, and the fourth the face of an eagle.And the cherubims were lifted up. This[ is] the living creature that I saw by the river of Chebar.And when the cherubims went, the wheels went by them: and when the cherubims lifted up their wings to mount up from the earth, the same wheels also turned not from beside them.When they stood,[ these] stood; and when they were lifted up,[ these] lifted up themselves[ also]: for the spirit of the living creature[ was] in them.Then the glory of the LORD departed from off the threshold of the house, and stood over the cherubims.And the cherubims lifted up their wings, and mounted up from the earth in my sight: when they went out, the wheels also[ were] beside them, and[ every one] stood at the door of the east gate of the LORD’S house; and the glory of the God of Israel[ was] over them above.This[ is] the living creature that I saw under the God of Israel by the river of Chebar; and I knew that they[ were] the cherubims.Every one had four faces apiece, and every one four wings; and the likeness of the hands of a man[ was] under their wings.And the likeness of their faces[ was] the same faces which I saw by the river of Chebar, their appearances and themselves: they went every one straight forward.

The chariots of God[ are] twenty thousand,[ even] thousands of angels: the Lord[ is] among them,[ as in] Sinai, in the holy[ place].
