And everything dedicated by Samuel the seer and by Saul son of Kish, Abner son of Ner and Joab son of Zeruiah, and all the other dedicated things were in the care of Shelomith and his relatives.

Samuel the prophet had set apart some things for God. Saul, the son of Kish, had set apart other things. So had Abner, the son of Ner. And so had Joab, the son of Zeruiah. All these things and everything else that had been set apart were taken care of by Shelomith and his relatives.

Also all that Samuel the seer and Saul the son of Kish and Abner the son of Ner and Joab the son of Zeruiah had dedicated— all dedicated gifts were in the care of Shelomoth and his brothers.

Shelomoth and his relatives also cared for the gifts dedicated to the Lord by Samuel the seer, Saul son of Kish, Abner son of Ner, and Joab son of Zeruiah. All the other dedicated gifts were in their care, too.

All that the seer Samuel, Saul son of Kish, Abner son of Ner, and Joab son of Zeruiah had dedicated, along with everything else that had been dedicated, were in the care of Shelomith and his relatives.

掃羅統治以色列後，常常攻打四圍的摩押人、亞捫人、以東人、瑣巴的諸王和非利士人等仇敵，無往而不勝。他奮勇殺敵，打敗了亞瑪力人，從掠奪者手中救出以色列人。他的兒子是約拿單、亦施韋和麥基舒亞，長女叫米拉，次女叫米甲。他的妻子名叫亞希暖，是亞希瑪斯的女兒。掃羅軍隊的元帥叫押尼珥，是他叔叔尼珥的兒子。掃羅的父親基士和押尼珥的父親尼珥都是亞別的兒子。

約押見自己前後受敵，就從以色列軍中挑選一些精兵迎戰亞蘭人，把餘下的軍兵交給他的兄弟亞比篩帶領，迎戰亞捫人。他對亞比篩說：「倘若我勝不過亞蘭人，你便過來支援我；倘若你勝不過亞捫人，我便過去支援你。我們要剛強，為我們的人民和我們上帝的城邑而奮勇作戰。願耶和華成全祂自己的旨意！」於是，約押率領軍兵進攻亞蘭人，亞蘭人敗逃。亞捫人見亞蘭人敗逃，也從亞比篩面前逃回城去。約押打完亞捫人，便回師耶路撒冷。
