Because their office[ was] to wait on the sons of Aaron for the service of the house of the LORD, in the courts, and in the chambers, and in the purifying of all holy things, and the work of the service of the house of God;

The duty of the Levites was to help Aaron’s descendants in the service of the temple of the Lord: to be in charge of the courtyards, the side rooms, the purification of all sacred things and the performance of other duties at the house of God.

The Levites had the duty of helping the members of Aaron’s family line. They helped them serve in the Lord’ s temple. They were in charge of the courtyards and the side rooms. They made all the sacred things pure and“ clean.” They also had other duties at the house of God.

For their duty was to assist the sons of Aaron for the service of the house of the Lord, having the care of the courts and the chambers, the cleansing of all that is holy, and any work for the service of the house of God.

The work of the Levites was to assist the priests, the descendants of Aaron, as they served at the house of the Lord. They also took care of the courtyards and side rooms, helped perform the ceremonies of purification, and served in many other ways in the house of God.

“ but their duty will be to assist the descendants of Aaron with the service of the LORD’s temple, being responsible for the courts and the chambers, the purification of all the holy things, and the work of the service of God’s temple—

Their job was to help Aaron’s descendants in the service of the LORD’s temple. They were to take care of the courtyards, the rooms, ceremonial purification of all holy items, and other jobs related to the service of God’s temple.

For their office was to wait on the sons of Aaron for the service of Yahweh’s house, in the courts, and in the rooms, and in the purifying of all holy things, even the work of the service of God’s house;

Then I commanded, and they cleansed the chambers: and thither brought I again the vessels of the house of God, with the meat offering and the frankincense.

Also for the courses of the priests and the Levites, and for all the work of the service of the house of the LORD, and for all the vessels of service in the house of the LORD.

And Pethahiah the son of Meshezabeel, of the children of Zerah the son of Judah,[ was] at the king’s hand in all matters concerning the people.

And[ certain] of them had the charge of the ministering vessels, that they should bring them in and out by tale.[ Some] of them also[ were] appointed to oversee the vessels, and all the instruments of the sanctuary, and the fine flour, and the wine, and the oil, and the frankincense, and the spices.

And I brought them into the house of the LORD, into the chamber of the sons of Hanan, the son of Igdaliah, a man of God, which[ was] by the chamber of the princes, which[ was] above the chamber of Maaseiah the son of Shallum, the keeper of the door:

And said unto them, Hear me, ye Levites, sanctify now yourselves, and sanctify the house of the LORD God of your fathers, and carry forth the filthiness out of the holy[ place].

Then they went in to Hezekiah the king, and said, We have cleansed all the house of the LORD, and the altar of burnt offering, with all the vessels thereof, and the shewbread table, with all the vessels thereof.Moreover all the vessels, which king Ahaz in his reign did cast away in his transgression, have we prepared and sanctified, and, behold, they[ are] before the altar of the LORD.

And against the wall of the house he built chambers round about,[ against] the walls of the house round about,[ both] of the temple and of the oracle: and he made chambers round about:

And[ there were] narrow windows and palm trees on the one side and on the other side, on the sides of the porch, and[ upon] the side chambers of the house, and thick planks.

Bring the tribe of Levi near, and present them before Aaron the priest, that they may minister unto him.And they shall keep his charge, and the charge of the whole congregation before the tabernacle of the congregation, to do the service of the tabernacle.And they shall keep all the instruments of the tabernacle of the congregation, and the charge of the children of Israel, to do the service of the tabernacle.And thou shalt give the Levites unto Aaron and to his sons: they[ are] wholly given unto him out of the children of Israel.

And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada[ was] over the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and the sons of David[ were] chief about the king.

Of which, twenty and four thousand[ were] to set forward the work of the house of the LORD; and six thousand[ were] officers and judges:

Watch ye, and keep[ them], until ye weigh[ them] before the chief of the priests and the Levites, and chief of the fathers of Israel, at Jerusalem, in the chambers of the house of the LORD.

Then Hezekiah commanded to prepare chambers in the house of the LORD; and they prepared[ them],

And before this, Eliashib the priest, having the oversight of the chamber of the house of our God,[ was] allied unto Tobiah:And he had prepared for him a great chamber, where aforetime they laid the meat offerings, the frankincense, and the vessels, and the tithes of the corn, the new wine, and the oil, which was commanded[ to be given] to the Levites, and the singers, and the porters; and the offerings of the priests.

Then said he unto me, The north chambers[ and] the south chambers, which[ are] before the separate place, they[ be] holy chambers, where the priests that approach unto the LORD shall eat the most holy things: there shall they lay the most holy things, and the meat offering, and the sin offering, and the trespass offering; for the place[ is] holy.

And they killed the passover, and the priests sprinkled[ the blood] from their hands, and the Levites flayed[ them].And they removed the burnt offerings, that they might give according to the divisions of the families of the people, to offer unto the LORD, as[ it is] written in the book of Moses. And so[ did they] with the oxen.And they roasted the passover with fire according to the ordinance: but the[ other] holy[ offerings] sod they in pots, and in caldrons, and in pans, and divided[ them] speedily among all the people.And afterward they made ready for themselves, and for the priests: because the priests the sons of Aaron[ were busied] in offering of burnt offerings and the fat until night; therefore the Levites prepared for themselves, and for the priests the sons of Aaron.

Over against the twenty[ cubits] which[ were] for the inner court, and over against the pavement which[ was] for the utter court,[ was] gallery against gallery in three[ stories].

And said unto the Levites that taught all Israel, which were holy unto the LORD, Put the holy ark in the house which Solomon the son of David king of Israel did build;[ it shall] not[ be] a burden upon[ your] shoulders: serve now the LORD your God, and his people Israel,And prepare[ yourselves] by the houses of your fathers, after your courses, according to the writing of David king of Israel, and according to the writing of Solomon his son.And stand in the holy[ place] according to the divisions of the families of the fathers of your brethren the people, and[ after] the division of the families of the Levites.So kill the passover, and sanctify yourselves, and prepare your brethren, that[ they] may do according to the word of the LORD by the hand of Moses.

And the side chambers[ were] three, one over another, and thirty in order; and they entered into the wall which[ was] of the house for the side chambers round about, that they might have hold, but they had not hold in the wall of the house.And[ there was] an enlarging, and a winding about still upward to the side chambers: for the winding about of the house went still upward round about the house: therefore the breadth of the house[ was still] upward, and so increased[ from] the lowest[ chamber] to the highest by the midst.I saw also the height of the house round about: the foundations of the side chambers[ were] a full reed of six great cubits.The thickness of the wall, which[ was] for the side chamber without,[ was] five cubits: and[ that] which[ was] left[ was] the place of the side chambers that[ were] within.And between the chambers[ was] the wideness of twenty cubits round about the house on every side.And the doors of the side chambers[ were] toward[ the place that was] left, one door toward the north, and another door toward the south: and the breadth of the place that was left[ was] five cubits round about.
