And God sent an angel to destroy Jerusalem. But as the angel was doing so, the Lord saw it and relented concerning the disaster and said to the angel who was destroying the people,“ Enough! Withdraw your hand.” The angel of the Lord was then standing at the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite.

And he said to the angel who was working destruction,“ It is enough; now stay your hand.” And the angel of the Lord was standing by the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite.

耶和华就因造人在地上感到遗憾，心中忧伤。

于是耶和华改变心意，不把所说的灾祸降给他的百姓。

当日，迦得来到大卫那里，对他说：“你上去，在耶布斯人亚劳拿的禾场上为耶和华立一座坛。”

“当犹大王希西家的日子，有摩利沙人弥迦对犹大众百姓预言说：‘万军之耶和华如此说：锡安要被耕种像一块田地，耶路撒冷要变为废墟，这殿的山必像丛林的高处。’

所罗门在耶路撒冷开工建造耶和华的殿，就在耶和华向他父亲大卫显现的摩利亚山上，耶布斯人阿珥楠的禾场，大卫指定的地方。

“耶路撒冷啊，耶路撒冷啊，你常杀害先知，又用石头打死那奉差遣到你这里来的人。我多少次想聚集你的儿女，好像母鸡把小鸡聚集在翅膀底下，但是你们不愿意。看吧，你们的家要被废弃成为荒芜。

我何时论到一邦或一国说，要拔出、拆毁、毁坏；我所说的那一邦若回转离开他们的恶，我就改变心意，不将我想要施行的灾祸降与他们。我何时论到一邦或一国说，要建立、栽植；他们若行我眼中看为恶的事，不听从我的话，我就改变心意，不将我所说的福气赐给他们。

耶和华为他们兴起士师，耶和华与士师同在。士师在世的一切日子，耶和华拯救他们脱离仇敌的手。耶和华因他们受欺压迫害所发出的哀声，就怜悯他们。

以色列人就除掉他们中间的外邦神明，事奉耶和华。耶和华因以色列所受的苦难而心里焦急。

他自己在旷野走了一日的路程，来到一棵罗腾树下，就坐在那里求死，说：“耶和华啊，现在够了！求你取我的性命吧，因为我不比我的祖先好。”

他第三次来对他们说：“现在你们仍在睡觉安歇吗？够了，时候到了。看哪，人子被出卖在罪人手里了。

请你们祈求耶和华，因神的雷轰和冰雹已经够了。我要放你们走，你们不用再留下来了。”

但他有怜悯，赦免他们的罪孽，没有灭绝他们，而且屡次撤销他的怒气，不发尽他的愤怒。

你为何假借耶和华的名预言，说这殿必如示罗，这城必荒废无人居住呢？”于是众百姓都聚集在耶和华的殿中围住耶利米。

他就向耶和华祷告，说：“耶和华啊，这不就是我仍在本国的时候所说的吗？我知道你是有恩惠，有怜悯的神，不轻易发怒，有丰盛的慈爱，并且会改变心意，不降那灾难。我就是因为这样，才急速逃往他施去的呀！

天使向耶路撒冷伸手要毁灭这城的时候，耶和华改变心意，不降那灾难，就对那在百姓中施行毁灭的天使说：“够了！住手吧！”耶和华的使者正在耶布斯人亚劳拿的禾场那里。

你们到我的地方示罗去，就是我先前在那里立为我名的居所，察看我因这百姓以色列的罪恶向那地方所行的事。

耶和华啊，我们要等到几时呢？求你转回，怜悯你的仆人们。
