疏割人的領袖回答說：「西巴和撒慕拿的手掌現在已經在你手裏，因此我們該將餅送給你的軍隊嗎？」基甸說：「好吧！耶和華將西巴和撒慕拿交在我手之後，我必用曠野的荊棘和枳條鞭打你們。」

你的手要搜出所有的仇敵，你的右手要搜出那些恨你的人。你的臉出現的時候，要使他們如在炎熱的火爐中。耶和華要在他的震怒中吞滅他們，那火要把他們燒盡。

於是他拿住城內的長老，用曠野的荊棘和枳條責打疏割人。他又拆了毗努伊勒的城樓，殺了城裏的人。

那些以色列人在當地不能滅盡的人，所羅門徵召他們剩下的後代作服勞役的奴僕，直到今日。

現在你們當受詛咒！你們中間必不斷有人作奴僕，為我上帝的殿作劈柴挑水的人。」
