於是祭司撒督、神言人拿單、耶何耶大的兒子比拿雅、和做衛兵的基利提人比利提人都下去，使所羅門騎上大衛王的騾子，將他送到基訓。

沿海地帶的居民、基利提人的國有禍啊！有永恆主的話在譴責你們呢！非利士人之地啊，我必使你屈服；我必毁滅你，使你沒有居民。

『但是他們的職任是做亞倫子孫的助手來辦理永恆主之殿的事務；無論是在院子裏、是在貯藏室裏、或是在潔淨一切聖物的事情上、來辦上帝之殿的事務；

於是耶何耶大的兒子比拿雅上去，擊殺了約押，將他殺死，給埋葬在曠野約押自己的宅地裏。王就立了耶何耶大的兒子比拿雅統領着軍隊來代替約押；王也使祭司撒督代替亞比亞他。

王差遣祭司撒督、神言人拿單、耶何耶大的兒子比拿雅、和做衛兵的基利提人比利提人跟他一同去；他們讓所羅門騎上王的騾子。

約押和做衛兵的基利提人比利提人並所有的勇士都跟着亞比篩，從耶路撒冷出去，追趕比基利的兒子示巴。

在三十勇士級裏他是最尊貴的，所以他做他們的隊長；只是還沒有達到三勇士的等級。耶何耶大的兒子比拿雅、是甲薛有力氣的人，曾行過大有作為的事；他擊殺了摩押兩隻小獅；又在下雪的日子下到坑中去擊殺一隻獅子。他又擊殺了一個埃及人、一個體格很好的人。這埃及人手裏拿着矛；比拿雅只拿着棍子下去，竟從埃及人手裏將矛奪過來，又用他的矛將他殺死。耶何耶大的兒子比拿雅行了這些事，他就得了名、像三勇士一樣。在三十勇士級裏他是尊貴的，只是還沒有達到三勇士的等級。大衛立他做衛隊長。
