“ Go and speak to my servant David. Tell him,‘ The Lord says,“ You are not the one who will build me a house to live in.

“ Go and tell my servant David,‘ This is what the Lord says: You are not the one to build me a house to dwell in.

“ Go and tell my servant David,‘ Thus says the Lord: It is not you who will build me a house to dwell in.

“ Go and tell my servant David,‘ This is what the Lord has declared: You are not the one to build a house for me to live in.

“ Go to David my servant and say,‘ This is what the LORD says: You are not the one to build me a house to dwell in.

“ Go and tell David My servant,‘ This is what the Lord says:“ You shall not build a house for Me to dwell in;

“ Go and tell My servant David,‘ Thus says the Lord:“ You shall not build Me a house to dwell in.

“ Go to David My servant and say,‘ This is what the Lord says: You are not the one to build Me a house to dwell in.

“ Go, tell my servant David:‘ This is what the LORD says:“ You must not build me a house in which to live.

“ Go and tell David my servant,‘ Yahweh says,“ You shall not build me a house to dwell in;

King David stood up. He said,“ All of you Israelites, listen to me. With all my heart I wanted to build a house for the Lord. I wanted it to be a place of peace and rest for the ark of the covenant of the Lord. The ark is the stool for our God’s feet. I made plans to build the Lord’ s house.But God said to me,‘ You are not the one who will build a house for my Name. That is because you are a fighting man. You have spilled people’s blood.’

How very rich are God’s wisdom and knowledge! How he judges is more than we can understand! The way he deals with people is more than we can know!“ Who can ever know what the Lord is thinking? Or who can ever give him advice?”( Isaiah 40:13)

“ My thoughts are not like your thoughts. And your ways are not like my ways,” announces the Lord.“ The heavens are higher than the earth. And my ways are higher than your ways. My thoughts are higher than your thoughts.

But that night the word of the Lord came to Nathan. The Lord said,“ Go and speak to my servant David. Tell him,‘ The Lord says,“ Are you the one to build me a house to live in?

But the Lord spoke to my father David. He said,‘ With all your heart you wanted to build a temple for my Name. It is good that you wanted to do that.But you will not build the temple. Instead, your son will build the temple for my Name. He is your own flesh and blood.’

David said to Solomon,“ My son, with all my heart I wanted to build a house for the Lord my God. That’s where his Name will be.But a message from the Lord came to me. It said,‘ You have spilled the blood of many people. You have fought many wars. You are not the one who will build a house for my Name. That is because I have seen you spill the blood of many people on the earth.
