所罗门又照着他父亲大卫所定的，设立了祭司的班次，执行他们的事奉，又派遣利未人，各守本职，赞美耶和华，在祭司面前照着每日的本分事奉。又派守门的按着班次看守各门。因为这是神人大卫的吩咐。

他们又按照律法上所记载的守住棚节，每天照着规定的数目献上当天的燔祭。

大卫和军队的领袖，也给亚萨、希幔和耶杜顿的子孙分派了任务，叫他们用琴瑟响钹说预言。他们任职的人数如下：亚萨的儿子有撒刻、约瑟、尼探雅和亚萨利拉；亚萨的儿子都归亚萨指挥，遵照王的旨意说预言。至于耶杜顿，他的儿子有基大利、西利、耶筛亚、示每、哈沙比雅和玛他提雅，共六人，都归他们的父亲耶杜顿指挥。耶杜顿用琴说预言，称谢和赞美耶和华。至于希幔，他的儿子有布基雅、玛探雅、乌薛、细布业、耶利摩、哈拿尼雅、哈拿尼、以利亚他、基大利提、罗幔提．以谢、约施比加沙、玛罗提、何提和玛哈秀。这些人都是希幔的儿子；希幔是王的先见，照着神的话高举他（“高举他”原文作“高举角”）。神赐给希幔十四个儿子，三个女儿。这些人都归他们的父亲指挥，在耶和华的殿里歌颂，用响钹和琴瑟在神的殿事奉。亚萨、耶杜顿和希幔都是由王指挥的。

于是利未人指派了约珥的儿子希幔和他的亲族中比利家的儿子亚萨，以及他们的亲族米拉利的子孙中古沙雅的儿子以探。和他们一起的还有作第二班的，他们的亲族：撒迦利雅、便、雅薛、示米拉末、耶歇、乌尼、以利押、比拿雅、玛西雅、玛他提雅、以利斐利户、弥克尼雅，以及守门的俄别．以东和耶利。歌唱的希幔、亚萨和以探敲打铜钹，发出响亮的声音；撒迦利雅、雅薛、示米拉末、耶歇、乌尼、以利押、玛西雅和比拿雅敲瑟，调用女高音；玛他提雅、以利斐利户、弥克尼雅、俄别．以东、耶利和亚撒西雅弹琴领导，调用男低音。利未支派的领袖基拿尼雅专责音乐，又教人音乐，因为他精通音乐。比利家、以利加拿作看守约柜的人。示巴尼、约沙法、拿坦业、亚玛赛、撒迦利雅、比拿亚和以利以谢几位祭司，在神的约柜前吹号；俄别．以东和耶希亚也作看守约柜的人。

大卫派了一部分利未人，在耶和华的约柜前事奉、颂扬、称谢和赞美耶和华以色列的神。领导的人是亚萨，其次是撒迦利雅、耶利、示米拉末、耶歇、玛他提雅、以利押、比拿雅、俄别．以东和耶利，他们鼓瑟弹琴，亚萨敲打响钹。比拿雅和雅哈悉两位祭司在神的约柜前不住地吹号。
