He confirmed it to Jacob for a statute, and to Israel for an everlasting covenant,

He confirmed it to Jacob as a decree, to Israel as an everlasting covenant:

He made it stand as a law for Jacob. He made it stand as a covenant for Israel. It will last forever.

which he confirmed to Jacob as a statute, to Israel as an everlasting covenant,

He gave it to Jacob as a decree, to Israel as a lasting promise,

God said to him,“ I am God Almighty. Be fruitful and multiply. A nation and a company of nations will be from you, and kings will come out of your body.The land which I gave to Abraham and Isaac, I will give it to you, and to your offspring after you I will give the land.”

I have said, I will bring you up out of the affliction of Egypt to the land of the Canaanite, the Hittite, the Amorite, the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite, to a land flowing with milk and honey.”’

“ Hear the words of this covenant, and speak to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem;

Now may the God of peace, who brought again from the dead the great shepherd of the sheep with the blood of an eternal covenant, our Lord Jesus,

“‘ You went over the Jordan, and came to Jericho. The men of Jericho fought against you, the Amorite, the Perizzite, the Canaanite, the Hittite, the Girgashite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite; and I delivered them into your hand.I sent the hornet before you, which drove them out from before you, even the two kings of the Amorites; not with your sword, nor with your bow.I gave you a land on which you had not labored, and cities which you didn’t build, and you live in them. You eat of vineyards and olive groves which you didn’t plant.’

I will establish my covenant between me and you and your offspring after you throughout their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God to you and to your offspring after you.I will give to you, and to your offspring after you, the land where you are traveling, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession. I will be their God.”

Turn your ear, and come to me. Hear, and your soul will live. I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David.

They didn’t keep God’s covenant, and refused to walk in his law.

Isn’t my house so with God? Yet he has made with me an everlasting covenant, ordered in all things, and sure, for it is all my salvation, and all my desire, although he doesn’t make it grow.
