So David did not move the Ark into the City of David. Instead, he took it to the house of Obed edom of Gath.

He did not take the ark to be with him in the City of David. Instead, he took it to the house of Obed- Edom the Gittite.

The sons of Obed edom, also gatekeepers, were Shemaiah( the oldest), Jehozabad( the second), Joah( the third), Sacar( the fourth), Nethanel( the fifth),

The following men were chosen as their assistants: Zechariah, Jaaziel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Unni, Eliab, Benaiah, Maaseiah, Mattithiah, Eliphelehu, Mikneiah, and the gatekeepers— Obed edom and Jeiel.

So David decided not to move the Ark of the Lord into the City of David. Instead, he took it to the house of Obed edom of Gath.The Ark of the Lord remained there in Obed edom’s house for three months, and the Lord blessed Obed edom and his entire household.

All of these descendants of Obed edom, including their sons and grandsons— sixty two of them in all— were very capable men, well qualified for their work.
