All these were fighting men who volunteered to serve in the ranks. They came to Hebron fully determined to make David king over all Israel. All the rest of the Israelites were also of one mind to make David king.

大卫出去迎接他们，说：“如果你们是好心来帮助我的，我就与你们结盟，但如果你们把我这无罪之人出卖给敌人，愿我们祖先的上帝鉴察、惩罚你们。”当时，上帝的灵感动那三十位勇士的首领亚玛撒，他就说：“大卫啊，我们是你的人！耶西的儿子啊，我们拥护你！愿你无比昌盛！愿帮助你的人也都昌盛！因为你的上帝帮助你。”大卫便收留他们，派他们统领他的队伍。

你跟仇敌作战的时候，你的百姓必甘心跟从，他们衣着圣洁，如清晨的甘露。

来自西布伦支派、能征善战、拥有各种兵器、训练有素、忠心耿耿的五万人；

以色列各支派都来希伯仑见大卫，对他说：“我们是你的骨肉同胞。从前扫罗做王的时候，率领以色列人出征打仗的是你，耶和华也曾应许让你做祂以色列子民的牧者和首领。”以色列的长老都到希伯仑见大卫王，大卫与他们在耶和华面前立约，他们膏立大卫做以色列的王。

“犹大啊，你的兄弟们必赞美你，你必制服你的仇敌，你父亲的儿子必向你下拜。我儿犹大是头小狮子，他猎食回来，躺卧如雄狮，蹲伏如母狮，谁敢惊扰他？王权必不离犹大，御杖必伴他左右，直到那位执掌王权的来到，万民都必归顺他。

“耶和华啊，求你顾念我怎样全心、忠诚地事奉你，做你视为善的事。”希西迦痛哭起来。

我必赐给他们一颗专一的心，将新灵放在他们里面，除去他们的石心，赐给他们肉心，

所罗门年老的时候，他的嫔妃诱惑他的心去追随别的神明。他没有像他父亲大卫那样忠心顺服他的上帝耶和华。

耶和华上帝感动犹大人，使他们一心遵从王与众官员奉祂的指示所下的命令。
