A Prayer for Restoration

1Listen, Shepherd of Israel,
you who sit enthroned between the cherubim,80:1 Ps 99:1

3Restore us, God;
make your face shine on us,80:3 Nm 6:25

Lord God of Armies,
how long will you be angry
5You fed them the bread of tears
and gave them a full measure80:5 Lit a one-third measure
6You put us at odds with our neighbors;
7Restore us, God of Armies;
8You dug up a vine from Egypt;
9You cleared a place for it;
it took root and filled the land.80:9 Am 9:15
10The mountains were covered by its shade,
and the mighty cedars80:10 Lit the cedars of God with its branches.80:10 Ezk 17:22–24
11It sent out sprouts toward the Sea80:11 = the Mediterranean
12Why have you broken down its walls
13Boars from the forest tear at it
and creatures of the field feed on it.80:13 Jr 5:6
Look down from heaven and see;
take care of this vine,
15the root80:15 Hb obscure your right hand planted,

16It was cut down and burned;
17Let your hand be with the man at your right hand,
with the son of man
