For the choir director. Of David, the Lord’s servant.
1An oracle within my heart
concerning the transgression of the wicked person:
Dread of God has no effect on him.36:1 Lit There is no dread of God in front of his eyes36:1 Rm 3:18
2For with his flattering opinion of himself,
he has stopped acting wisely and doing good.36:3 Jr 4:22
He sets himself on a path that is not good,
5
Lord, your faithful love reaches to heaven,
6Your righteousness is like the highest mountains,
your judgments like the deepest sea.36:6 Ps 71:19
Lord, you preserve people and animals.36:6 Ps 104:14–15
7How priceless your faithful love is, God!
8They are filled from the abundance of your house.
You let them drink from your refreshing stream.36:8 Ps 46:4; 65:4; Jr 31:12–14
10Spread your faithful love over those who know you,
11Do not let the foot of the arrogant come near me
12There! The evildoers have fallen.
